With Field and Paal injured, and we are 90% safe, there can be some change in formation:
3-4-3
Nardi in goal
3 CBs Morrison Edwards Fox
2CM Varane Colback
2 Wingbacks Smyth Saito
The best attacking defender Jimmy Dunne as the striker with Bennie and Madsen behind him.
(or if you still don’t trust Madsen, Dembele instead)

This formation allows the shift to 4-2-3-1 when required :
Nardi
Dunne Morrison Edwards Fox
Varane Colback
Smyth Madsen Saito
Bennie

Then we have Kolli, Dembele, Yang, Morgan and Sutton on the bench.

GK - Nardi
RB - Dunne
CB - Morrison
CB - Edwards
LB - Fox
CM - Varane
CM - Colback
AM - Morgan
LW - Saito
RW - Yang
CF - Kolli

This assumes no Field, concussion and all that. Also assumes no Paal. Best team to win the game with a loaded midfield, quality wide players and hopefully Kolli fit enough to play.

People have been telling me that Morgan’s form has cratered so totally that he’s not worth selecting.
I don’t know if that’s true but if it is, it leaves us without a third midfielder of the type that Clive suggests is totally necessary for our success in the Match Report, so I don’t know how best to fill that gap.

Yes probably that.

Depends if Smyth is fit.

Also Andersen could play instead of Morgan (hope he can match his performance against Leeds).

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

I thought Madsen did really well on Wednesday. At first we were cheering ironically when he merely found a teammate but until they scored I thought he was very smart on the ball and got an assist for what that’s worth. Without checking the stats he seemed to win headers and ‘duels’ consistently for the first time. Certainly if it’s a choice of him or Andersen I’d be going with him.

Fox is too slow to play as LB, that’s why playing him on LCB

Luckily we've got rapid Jimmy Dunne on the right to balance things out

Fox over Ashby though surely. Bob Malcolm over Ashby.

I think MC will reward the players who played well at Oxford with a start.......hopefully near to the same team.

Yes also had a good game. Tried a bit too hard to con free kicks out the ref which got us into trouble a couple of times but overall no complaints.

He must of been better than I thought if that is your opinion!!!

I saw him do that but that is the game now, they all do it sadly.

PS - Not much on the extra 17 minutes the ref played......

I am guessing Marti will go for this ...

GK - Nardi
RB - Dunne
CB - Morrison
CB - Edwards
LB - Fox
CM - Varane
CM - Colback
AM - Madsen / Andersen
LW - Saito
RW - Smyth / Dembele
CF - Yang

Yang scored again and when he's done that Marti starts him. So, this time I suspect he will start him up front to allow Kolli more time to ... not get injured again!

Smyth usually is okay and can handle a few knocks, so I am assuming he will be available, otherwise he will play Dembele there.

He then has to replace Fields headers higher up the pitch, and I suspect he may give Madsen another go to dominate the middle as we did against Oxford; otherwise, he will play Andersen again.

No way he's starting Morgan against Brizzles experienced pro's.

zzzzzzzzzz

It's unlikely, but Bennie could be a candidate for Field's position.

I think that is far closer to where he plays for Australia & where he played for Perth. He would also be able to press better than many of the other options.

Fox next to Morrison and Edwards move into centre of midfield three. Saito at lb.

Frey and Kolli 45 mins each?

Apparently the Brizzle Centre Back Dickie isn't too quick on the turn, so we should try and see if any of Saito/ Smyth/ Yang can exploit that?

I'd like to see the Brazilian lad get a go assuming we're safe. Play Smyth on the Left to give him some cover.

He played for the DS today.

Field out, Paal out........

So we need a LB - Fox or Ashby but he could chance the Brazilian if MC thinks he is tough enough/good enough/ready for a start.
Another midfielder - Big call, depends on fitness. Varane & Colback will hold defensively, Smyth(if fit), Saito then perhaps Dembele or Madsen....but it does depend on players fitness after a difficult straining game on Wednesday.
Forward will be Bennie (who whilst I was at the game I thought he was average but did OK) or Frey if fit.

Field & Paal are massive losses, both very important players for the Team.

The result.....very tough to call but Bristol are not world betters.
