My feeling for a while has been he'll end up going to Swansea although Sheehan is doing an incredible job with them at the moment so they might just offer him the job full time

Looks a bit sheepish after yesterday…
Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I still think Devon White is more likely to be our manager next season than this guy.
Yeah, bit of a Rorschasch test, this interview. Some see it as an indication he's staying; I'm with you though, sounds like he's laying out the exit route.
"I need to sit with Christian and we need to see what is the plan, what does he want, what is the idea…"
This is the talk of a man who knows the plan and disagrees with it, and is preparing the amicable departure.
"Obviously I have my thoughts, my ideas of how we can improve." Are they same as Nourry's? Doesn't scream that, does it.
"QPR as a club has amazing potential, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to come here." Are we meeting those expectations for him?
"22 seasons coaching football and this has been the most demanding one by far, for many reasons. But the foundation for next season is good, it’s just about taking the right decisions." Who's making the decisions and does MC agree with them? I sense not. What are the "many reasons" for it being so demanding?
The medical talk was also damning, rightly. That's obviously been a big flashpoint.
I can't recall in my lifetime any QPR manager talk with such clear-eyed, calm insight about his job, the players, the league, his business before. Whenever he goes, I'll really miss him. As will the club, I suspect.

And wouldn't be surprised if a couple of our out of contracts join him if so. Swansea looked like a version of QPR with slightly more dynamic, fitter players.

Some very sensible posters on here seem to think it’s a done deal that he’s gone. I’m genuinely curious to know why this seems to be a prevailing view? Answers provided without any ITK nonsense please (unless you are secretly Marti).
I’m struggling to get my head round it, only because of the underlying data in the championship (call me GPT Nourry if you like) that shows you very very few managers leave their job willingly (I.e., resign / truly agree a mutual exit), and missing the associated pay day that comes with the sack.
Promise this isn’t a flippant question I’m just curious why 80% of fans seem to think he’s gone when there’s very little by way of rumour other than Danny’s sister’s brothers boy spoke to his second cousin who told us he didn’t like CN.

I'm not sure anyone's saying that Cifuentes is definitely gone?
Speaking for myself, I'm certainly not. I've been worried about it since January, but that's all I have - a worry.

I didn’t mean to say it’s definitive. Just that the prevailing view on here is that he seems likely to go. Just curious why this is the case and where the indications are coming from - these interviews don’t sound like someone walking out to me. If a better offer comes along that’s a different question, of course.

I did consider this when I heard his post-match, very complimentary about Swansea and clearly liked the way they play, I could see Marti and Swansea working (unfortunately).

I'm in the "he's staying" camp. I think people are adding two plus two together and making five when they talk about him leaving. He's kept his cards pretty close to his chest on a number of issues over this last year or so. I think he genuinely cares deeply about the club, and this comes across in that same interview. In his mind, I suspect he's thinking "I've proved myself under some tough circumstances, now its time for me to leverage from that in my discussions with the CEO to get what I really want/need."

Honest interview from Martí. Definitely a tough season for him. Coupled with some clear mistakes from him in team choices. Not easy with Celar and Madsen both not proving their levels in the championship, then the ridiculous number of injuries.
I didn’t get a feeling of he’s going, or that he’s staying. He is on contract. Also it’s very open questioning and nobody interviewing asked outright if he was staying/going or tried to trap him with a leading question. Reporters love a lead, so I’m not sure they see him leaving. So I’m not sure where all the gossip is coming from really.
It’s clear he’s not had it easy, but h has done a very good job both seasons with what he is being given. I would be very disappointed to see him go, we need consistency from the top and it needs to start with Martí.
Edit: Of course there are now vacancies at Norwich and West Brom to throw into the pot.

He's not going to tell us if he's staying or going via a West London Sport interview is he? I certainly can't tell anyway.
It's down to poor previous comms that we are having this debate. Could be shut down in a second, but I suspect that they probably don't know themselves.

Yet 2 or so weeks ago, a debate was had due to his comments in a WLS interview. One interview the view was that he was going, now this one seems different. Can’t have it both ways. I know the cat of Marti’s wife’s friend at Hammarby knows what’s going on but for now, there’s no certainty of anything.

He did work a miracle last season. How he kept the team up with those amazing results week after week I will never know.
This season, he has also proven he is a great manager. Despite many injuries and bedding in new players (who have taken ages to adapt), he still has managed to get us safe with about 3 games to spare. And the injuries kept coming.
We can look back on some of the games where we had injuries to key players like Chair out for most of the season (who is usually never injured) and see that if he was fit we would have won those games and possibly have another 10 points on the board and that's from Chair alone. Remember the whole forward line got decimated in the last half of the season. Playing Bennie and Yang up front speaks volumes.
Marti is getting wise now, he realises recruitment in the summer is key. Otherwise, you end up with no LB when Paal gets injured (and he clearly is off anyway) and Larkeche is farmed out. The whole LB situation was of QPR's own making, Fox was never gonna last a season. In reality, they got lucky that Dunne was fit for most games at RB and also did not phone it in when he knew he would be leaving. The lack of fullback cover is a disgrace and needs to be properly fixed for next season. No more playing a loaned RB at LB (who isn't that good anyway at RB). Complete crackers that.
Marti will want Cook renewed and Frey. If he gets that and proper support for the gaps in the squad, along with another Number 9, I think he will stay.
To be fair, if the club fills those gaps, Cook and Frey stay, then QPR shall have a much stronger squad than for many a year. I would be looking at top half (but below 6th) for next season if that happened.
But that is a big IF!
zzzzzzzzzz

I mean, you can have a go at fans for debating the situation on a football forum made for that purpose, but the truth is if you leave gaps we'll fill it even if it's just based on guesswork and body language.
Not saying we need a weekly update, but just laying out the club's position in a truthful way devoid of spin would be lovely.
It goes back to that need for long term relationship building with fans built on trust.

The key moment in the interview is at 5.37 when he is asked if he knows his squad for next season. The way he touches his nose is a sure sign of someone who is not saying everything he is thinking.

I would suggest, and obviously could be wrong, he does know most it but disagrees with at least some of it. Our CEO disagrees with him that injuries have been that bad. Mid-table for injuries apparently. Quite how that’s been calculated is anyone’s guess.

On 17’32 he blinks ‘Kolli is going to Lens’ in morse code like Terry Waite.

I do not know about other teams injury lists but I would be amazed if it has been as bad and difficult as ours......not sure our CEO would know either.

I guess it's good therefore that at least he is conjecturing, If he answered 'let's see what happens over the summer' then there would be more cause for concern. F*ck me, this is getting hard to decypher. I thought Ukraine Russia was difficult to fathom ....

It shouldn’t be about arbitrary lists.
Timing and to whom should be taken into account.

I’m not having a go at fans for debating anything. I’m saying if we can debate whether one interview suggests he’s leaving, it’s also fair to debate another interview which suggests he’s staying.

I still think Devon White is more likely to be our manager next season than this guy.
That is a bold statement coming from someone who, as the guy who runs the biggest QPR fans forum, presumably has contacts at the club, despite the lack of official interviews under this regime.
Given that you have made such a statement - and the way de-stabilising rumours can grow as wildly as late night Trump X tirades - it would be really helpful, please, to know if this is based on anything not in the public domain? Obvs if it is based on private conversations I would not expect you to reveal your source (naturally), but I hope its not unreasonable to ask if this is actually based on a source, whoever that is, or if it is simply your impression. If the latter, can you point me please to the instances that give rise to that impression?
If based on purely "out there" information it seems a very categorical statement given what we (or at least I) know. I wouldn't claim to follow the nuance of every press conference or fans forum as closely as you no doubt do. So it could well be that I am missing some important hints/ tensions, but as just another regular, averagely informed fan I would count it as a major shock in Marti left (unless he were poached which is of course possible).
He has the best rapport with fans of any manager since at least as far back as Warnock IMHO (which is remarkable given results). No doubt there are frustrations about budgets, some transfer decisions etc (is there a club where there aren't such tensions?). But Marti was Nourry's appointment and, broadly speaking, seems in his image in a way that an Ainsworth type manager could never be.
Marti appears to be one of our most intelligent managers since El Tel so presumably understood FFP restrictions, the decision-making process for transfers etc before he arrived? I get the injury issue must be absolutely infuriating for him (as it is for fans) but if this is about the Ben Williams role, better medical facilities, more data science etc etc, surely a practical solution could be found there? I imagine someone as analytical and science-driven as Nourry would want improvements in this area as much as Marti as whatever it would cost would surely be lower than what it costs to keep a bloated squad expected to cope with 8/9 first team players being out for long stretches of the season.
But maybe the above is all very naive and I am missing some major undercurrent.
