Sunderland Match Thread on 18:47 - May 3 by Andybrat | Agree But ( and sorry I am always looking for positives) we only scored 5 less than Sunderland over the season and over 20 players on the scoresheet. Not the worst but could do with that mythical unicorn. |
Unicorns didn't exist 😉 But Dunne having the most amount of shots this season is concerning. I'm looking forward to preseason. I really hope we can have another successful Charlie up front!! New manager New squad New kit These two months may fly by!!

To be fair (although you could argue that this is part of the concern), Dunne has taken the most shots basically by default because he's the only outfield player to have played a full season - he's played just over 4,000 minutes, with Field next up at just under 3,000. If you go by shots per 90 minutes instead of total he drops down to 13th place (14th if you include Dykes' 10 minutes at the start of the season).

It takes a lot of character and bottle to overcome that, and he's done it without letting his head drop. That's the sort of young player we should be going after if you ask me! |
He was good yesterday and generally seems to have stopped his habit of going for tricks and flicks in dangerous situations. And he's got real pace. I like this version of Ashby. Not the one I saw at the start.
