who's favourite for promotion. 20:29 - May 6 with 2726 views | diplodocus | If Southend are to go up, they will need to win 3 times away (including Wembley). same for Halifax. we will need to win 2 times away, and same for Lun (atics). York and FG will only need to win once away for promo... So who is the smart money on??
who's favourite for promotion. on 20:43 - May 6 with 2668 views | EllDale | Three wins from 7th isn’t impossible. Grimsby did it the other year winning at hot favourites Wrexham on the way. If I was a gambler I’d be putting money on York. Seems nuts that you can get 96 points yet not be promoted automatically. [Post edited 6 May 20:44]

Agree with that. Dale at their best can beat most in this league. If Southend decide to put 9 or 10 men behind the ball, history dictates we won't score and will probably lose unless Jim has a paradigm shift in approach to such a situation as an alternative to 122 ineffectual passes around the opposition penalty area until we lose possession. He'll also have to be more savvy and imaginative in-game than Maher, Cotterill and Hinshelwood which seems unlikely. Prove me wrong Jim. Please!

What do people thing about the quarter & semi finals being 1 leg instead of home& away. I like it because it ensures there is some reward for finishing as high as you can. It also gives an underdog a better chance as the stronger teams are more likely to win over 2 games. Even though potentially we would be away to FG, I would fancy us to pull off a 1 game shock against them that win over 2. In terms of the original question I am more worried about the Southend game than I would be against FG. As mentioned they may come and park the bus, and I would fear 1-0 result. Also we should get a good crowd which seems to be a market for poor performance too !! York clear favourites overall but a Wembley final is 50/50. [Post edited 7 May 4:30]

who's favourite for promotion. on 06:21 - May 7 with 2218 views | Dale_4_Life | I would not say the final is away because its at Wembley the same for both sides. Any one from six can go up its difficult to call. Worthy favourites in York but take your pick any of the other five.. Bookmakers make us 3rd favourites and Halifax the rank outsiders. York 11/8 Forest Green 5/2 Dale 15/2 Oldham 9/1 Southend 16/1 Halifax 20/1
who's favourite for promotion. on 15:22 - May 7 with 1832 views | wheniwasyourage | I think we have already over achieved this season, so there is no pressure on the Dale and to an extent its a bit of a lottery isn't it?
who's favourite for promotion. on 12:28 - May 10 with 1138 views | Dale_4_Life | Oldham are very confident of a smooth passage to glory. They have started a ticket thread for the York match in the play off semi final on OWTB. Reference Dale and Oldham what route would you have preferred?. Dale look to have a tougher eliminator game v Southend then FGR for the winners. Oldham have out of sorts Halifax but then (if they win) bang in form York who are worthy favourites.
who's favourite for promotion. on 20:22 - May 10 with 877 views | EllDale | Both sets of Oldham and Halifax fans, going off social media, seem confident of winning at York should their team get through. This seems to be based on the fact that both drew there in the last couple of months of the season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
who's favourite for promotion. on 23:17 - May 10 with 675 views | The_Referee | York were the best side I've seen at Spotland this season. And it will take a mammoth task to beat them. I don't fear any of the other sides in the playoffs. Strange things can happen though when teams feel the pressure of expectation.
who's favourite for promotion. on 18:45 - May 11 with 293 views | dingdangblue | Its tough trying to imagine Dale going up winning at Wembley simply because we've won nothing in our lifetimes. Yes there has to be a first time for everything and the only way we are ever going to get back to being a football league club is either winning the league or winning the play offs - so this club, manager and players will have to create history at some point.

who's favourite for promotion. on 06:01 - May 12 with 63 views | James1980 | Looking at the odds for our eliminator on Thursday looks like the bookies have us favourites but only very marginally. I think of the four teams we could have potentially faced Southend is possibly the trickiest opponent. They are a team in form, confidence will be brimming having secured the last playoff spot on the last day of the season. The manager hardly needs to do a team talk on Thursday night he just has to point out that over a thousand fans have made the effort to travel what is basically a 500 mile round trip.

Our form has been better than Southends, not only recently but throughout the season. We deserve to be favourites, we are also the home team. We will have by far the majority of fans in the stadium and the manager will have more or less a fit and rested squad to choose from. Southend play with a high press, the excuse that we can't break down teams who just sit back won't be needed. If we don't gift them a goal by trying to over play around our own penalty area then there's no reason why we can't beat them. We need to play attacking football and take the game to them. I'd rather concentrate on the positives in respect of our chances than talk up Southends. They were lucky to get into the play offs, fortunate to draw at Gateshead who missed a penalty. We deserve to be favourites and should approach the game with that mentality. [Post edited 12 May 6:58]
