His feet were in the penalty area, he swiped at the ball not knowing it was outside the area.
Var showed it was outside, but didn’t even give a free kick !
The rules back up the outcome, but for me common sense would have been a free kick and a yellow card. But hey, who cares ? Eze has made history. Now lets hope someone Bigger signs him, sharpish, coz in a year or so his value will start to decrease with age. | | | |

It's deliberate and denied a goal scoring opportunity.
Clear and obvious, which it was, but under VAR rules, as I understand them, (Who does?)
the only decision that could have been given in retrospect, was a red card or nothing at all, even though it's clearly been identified as foul play.
Therein lies the problem, the human element has not been eliminated, the referee has made a mistake in that it's definitely hand ball, but the Stockley Park imbeciles deem it not to be a goal scoring chance so f-all is given.

Agreed, I am glad Palace won and that he wasn't sent off, but surely it was a red card. Rooney is spot on, the excuses that they come out with after such decisions is just embarrassing. Yet again, shows the pointlessness of wasting all that time with VAR when you still just get a human making a (wrong) subjective decision.
Anything factual that can be automated (and immediate) like goal lines = yes. Everything else, total waste of time. |  | | |

I like Haaland, but got to agree. He's on some unbelievable 8 year contract and he's not the one to step up and get them back into a final? I know he has missed a few recently, but come on man....

I could not understand if it was deemed foul play and outside the area, why wasn't it, at the very least, a free kick on the edge of the penalty area..
Why was that??
Problem with VAR , it was meant to rule out human error, problem it allows human interpretation to assess the results of the machine, therefore doubling the amount of time to make the same or opposing human mistake.
If you are using machines, choose to accept what the machine says and don't allow three or more other people to consider if machine is right or wrong.
It's so obvious how to use it better but the ruling bodies between all these intelligent people cannot see this.

Whereas "bloke down the pub" can see the solution immediately.

Very strange situation overall I found .Just watched the 10 minute clip on YouTube but KDB spoke to Haaland first ,then EH kissed the ball (not the Stroud kiss ) before handing it off .
It also took a long time for the ref to blow the whistle for some reason and that did not help the kicker.
Last but not least Henderson was nowhere close to having his foot on the line at contact it should have been an easy decision and re take but that was not decided either.Maybe the fact Haaland was quickest to the rebound and had a chance to score made it irrelevant .

Exactly hence why I have said VAR is used in an ultimately brain dead way in that creates way more problems than its serves
Suggested in should be used in as simple a way as possible and what VAR without human intervention can over rule clear and obvious refereeing blunders
Otherwise its not fit for purpose in way its implemented as is right now !!!
