The annual struggle of having to shift players out of the Club 06:59 - May 19 with 2060 viewsPatfromPoole

Whoever the new manager is, he will be totally dependent on Spors to shift players out of the Club ASAP to enable us to strengthen.

KWP, Ramsdale and Fernandes will have plenty of suitors.

It’s the seven or eight others who have to go that will be the challenge.

Hopefully this may be the first time that the Goztepe link will come in handy.

Sell them to Goztepe. Let them be Ankersen’s problem.

A bigger problem Pat, is possibly apart from Goztepe which other clubs are going to be remotely interested in buying the seven or eight serial under achievers to which you refer ?

On the basis of their pathetic efforts this season they haven’t a snowball in hells chance of a Premiership team being interested which just leaves the Championship and lower leagues.

The vast majority of these clubs won’t be able to match the players current salaries or contracts so I fully expect we will start the 25/26 season with most if not all of them.

Interesting that you don’t include Dibling in your list of those with possible suitors and on the basis of his recent efforts I can see why.

I suspect Dibling will be sold, but possibly loaned back to us for a year.

He would struggle to get much game-time in the Prem at the moment.

Well they need to sell 100mill of "talent" to balance the books. Otherwise we will be in big trouble. People on here have sung the praises of SR and that they opened the wallet. The reality is very different. They havent spent their own money its just on HP

Players may come and players may go, but Alex McCarthy is here forever. We'll never get rid of him, will we? There are so many others like him- players so bad that no other club will take them.

Harwood Bellis will be hoping for a move to a Prem club.
Imo he's been our worst CB which is saying something, and has looked out of his depth in the Premier League.

At best we may get 15m or likely less for him unless we can mug someone off .

He has played and scored for England.

That will add a bit to his price tag.

We shouldn’t lose money on him.

The chap that sits next to me has been calling him Harwood Bellend since about the turn of the year. After every mistake he goes Harwoood Bellend again, ding dong! He’s had plenty of opportunities…

In my opinion the ENTIRE team should be up for sale.

I think Harwood-Bellis would be fine this season though, but the entire defence is longing for that Jose Fonte type steady experience. We've missed Fonte since he left and like every position in our team, was never replaced PROPERLY.

Could we build a promotion chasing team out of who is there, yes absolutely. Do I want to bother watching that lot again, no absolutely the fk not. Get rid of the lot.

I also presume players like Fraser and Taylor have already left!

You're right: Harwood-Bellis needs someone like Fonte as a mentor.

He was excellent for England when he had better players around him. Central defenders, like goalkeepers, usually take much longer to reach their peak than players in other positions. I remember how John Stones struggled in his first season at Man City. His mistakes cost them a lot of games, but they persevered with him.

My ideal management team would be Vasco Matos assisted by Fonte. They would sort out our defence and Harwood-Bellis would thrive in it. "Vasco Matos led Santa Clara to the best defensive record in the top ten European leagues, conceding only 19 goals in a season. This remarkable achievement, along with their promotion and current performance in the Primeira Liga, highlights Matos's ability to build a strong and organized backline."

There are some better youngsters than we realize in our squad. They just have very poor examples around them and have been dragged down to their level. That's the problem with retaining a nucleus of poor players. They have a negative influence on any new players we bring in.

I agree 100% with the only exception being Fernandes who I'd happily keep. Alas, he'll be sold.

Believe it or not.. Fonte was still playing in the Portuguese First Division this season, as player/coach of Casa Pia (small club just outside of Lisbon) who finished mid table.
Vasco Matos is highly regarded here and it would surprise me if a bigger club than Santa Clara (who play in the Azorean island of São Miguel) didn't come in for him. Another highly rated coach who led Estoril to a respectable position is the Scotsman Ian Cathro, who again is being linked to bigger clubs. Most of the successful managers here from the smaller/medium sized clubs get linked to Brazilian clubs.

Bournemouth are cashing in on a £50 million sell on clause for their 20 year old centre back, bought for a relatively small amount of money not so very long ago. Am I envious of their recruitment prowess? Absolutely not, he lied.

£50 million is cheap for him.

He has many years at the top of the game to come.

Fernandes being linked to a 20mill move to Palace who they see as a replacement for Wharton. Hopefully hes worth more than that.

I think, in a really good footballing and positive side like Palace, Fernandes would thrive & make a big name for himself - especially if they keep their manager.

Alas, in our tippy-tappy, negative puny side, he's been stifled this season. He's got a great engine & loves to pick the ball up and run at defences... and he's still only very young.

Sad to see him go. Good luck to the youngster.

It is difficult to sell players for big money when you are a Championship club.

Wilcox got great fees for us for Lavia and Ward-Prowse given our predicament at the time.

Fernandes and Wharton are different players so he won't be a direct replacement but I think we should be able to get at least £20m for him. He's worth more. One of the few we should have no trouble getting good money for. God help us with the rest of them.
