Why in earth should illegal immigrants be allowed to work. Even immigrants here legally refuse to work. Only 25% work the rest live on benefits get free heath care and free education.

Well either the uk tax payers pays for them, or they are allowed to work and earn their own keep. Its a black and white situation once they are here. I am surprised that you want to pay for all these young men…? 🤷‍♂️

Take two crises over the last 5-6 years. The HMG went into super overdrive with Covid 19. Money no object beds created in mk no time. Immigration crisis. No staff no safe clean accomodation massive backlogs. The government could act if it wanted to fast track. A basic holding camp in Kent and each case resolved on one month.

beds created in no time with many never used and a lot of money, really a massive amount given out to friends of politicians never to be seen again. This basic holding camp, how basic? A complete cock up by Westminster and the Senedd, why spend all that money on something that could never function. Both governments were equally to blame. We do things differently in Wales, only when it suits the agenda.

So you let illegal iimigranst out to work what then? I can tell you what usually happens, most of them vanish, they link up with others and they do end up working but not legally, they don't pay taxes and as it stands the government cannot tell us how many illegals there are in the Uk, where they are and they don't have a clue how to find them. Those hand car washes, the multitude of barbers, vape shops and even legal businesses that are just fronts for money laundering, criminal enterprise, they work there.

Immigration/Border Force staff numbers were savaged by the previous Conservative governments much like the police and other public services. You can’t rebuild those numbers overnight and once you’ve lost the skilled staff some of that knowledge is lost. Interestingly, despite the outrage over small boats etc etc, enforcement action in 2021, (Covid so fairly understandable) 2022 and 2023 were much lower than the 2019 figure. Interestingly, 2023 was even lower than 2022. I’d have thought that would be an area where lots of enforcement work would have been undertaken.

'Legal immigrants'. Only 25% work, the rest live on benefits, get free health care and free education.' Once again Felixstowe. Provide evidence. You really do say some of the most ridiculous things. If you don't provide the evidence it just proves that you are one of those sad people who use social media to stir up trouble.
Two tier Keir reverses Brexit on 22:22 - May 29 with 888 views | Dr_Winston | The argument gets bogged down in semantics. "Illegal" immigrants, those who have not registered with the authorities, claimed asylum, etc, absolutely cannot claim benefits. Most of, if not all of them will be working. Deliveroo drivers, working for Slavemasters, whatever. They won't be paying tax or NI, but they will probably be taking up housing. The bone of contention is whether or not people who rock up in Dover on a rubber dinghy should be considered as such. There is a strong argument to be made for treating them all as illegals, because if they've come from France and are genuinely fleeing for their lives then there's about half a dozen countries where they could have done so before arriving in the UK. There is no obligation for them to claim asylum in the first safe country, but if there is an obligation for the UK to disregard the fact that they haven't then we need to withdraw from whatever organisation or treaty that makes it so.

By using the phrase “we have got off lightly” suggests that you concede that the situation of all these people coming here is inherently a bad thing. So why is it desirable for you to take more?

Deportation on release. Just deport him now we are way too soft.
Two tier Keir reverses Brexit on 23:08 - Jun 11 with 453 views | majorraglan | Another day another deal. This time it’s a deal to finalise the negotiations started by the Conservatives after Brexit in 2020 regarding the border issues between Spain and Gibraltar. The Daily Mail and some other outlets are branding it a sell out, etc, but all that has happened is we’ve agreed a deal which is identical to the arrangement we have with France in relation to the Eurostar at St Pancras. I don’t recall that being a sell out when it was agreed by Boris. Surely, if the Gibraltar government is happy with the deal (and they also voted for Brexit) and the Spanish are also happy with it, that’s enough. It’s good to see some progress being made on improving relationships. It’s not about rejoining, but about making life easier for Brits and British companies. We all know Trumpster could start a fight with his own shadow, so it makes to forge good relationship with other trading blocks.

This makes little sense. You say if we let them work then they will disappear. They will go work in some of the newer industries …. However if we dont let them work then you and i pay for all their needs. Thats worse in every way.

Time we had National Identity cards. Only people with identity cards could FREE NHS treatment the rest would have to pay. It would save billions.

It makes very much sense if you thought about it. people work illegally and don't declare it then they also claim whatever benefits they are entitled to. They don't pay rax AND get Welfare, that really is worse in every way. It's that or to avoid being deported they work illegally and hide, not claiming benefits but also not paying any tax and often then victims of crime gangs who use the illegal businesses to launder money. Ibviously some will behave, take their benefits and work their way through the system hoping to be allowed to stay. BUT, allowing illegals to work means giving them a national insurance number which they need to claim benefits and pay tax which is why many just hide and work illegally.

There is always a massive outcry from the loudest voices. Volunteer groups public funded bodies etc. Opposition MPs etc. They have to be ignored or patronised Similar services Soldiers get is perfectly adequate. Clean bed healthy food provided by Serco or equivalent. UK citizens not want to see these young men out clubbing.

…. and if they’re allowed to work it could encourage others to come here. It’s a really difficult situation and I don’t think there’s a simple answer. If people can’t work, then maybe it would deter people coming here.
