Had almost forgotten... but the first (single) test has started against Zimbabwe

Very much a warm up for what's to come: India, albeit without Kohli, which itself will be seen as a warm up for what could be the defining tour of Ben Stokes career as captain

England 59-0

(T'other cricket thread could be reserved for Lancs)

Expect he'll still play at Lord's, but then rested

Talking of pace attacks, i reckon it's worth sticking with Carse and Tongue and getting some experience under their belts. They've been identified as the best available (with Wood and Archer still not available, although the latter started back in red-ball cricket recently) and they didn't do too badly after all against a classy Indian batting lineup

Incidentally, i think it's also the first time a side has lost a test match after scoring five centuries

All the talk was he would play three of the five matches. There is a reasonable break before the next test so he might back up. If they then lose he might have to sit out the third test with India needing to win. Decisions, decisions. England could have Archer and Atkinson back if not for the next text then maybe the third.

Not only that, but according to Andy Zaltzman, it's the first time ever in any first class cricket.
