Talking of pace attacks, i reckon it's worth sticking with Carse and Tongue and getting some experience under their belts. They've been identified as the best available (with Wood and Archer still not available, although the latter started back in red-ball cricket recently) and they didn't do too badly after all against a classy Indian batting lineup

All the talk was he would play three of the five matches. There is a reasonable break before the next test so he might back up. If they then lose he might have to sit out the third test with India needing to win. Decisions, decisions. England could have Archer and Atkinson back if not for the next text then maybe the third. |  | | |

Bumrah faced 37 balls for 4 runs holding the end up whilst Jadeja is equally patient.

He also could have stopped the ball with his bat again as long as he showed no intent of scoring from it.
