Nathan Jones & Charlton 10:56 - May 26 with 2487 views | SaintNick | It will be good to visit Charlton again next season, it is 13 years since our last visit, I wonder what reception Nathan Jones will get when they come to St Mary's

I don’t blame him, I blame the people who appointed him He’d have wanted nothing other than to be successful here. The way our karma constantly bites us on the arse I hope our fans just let it be. Same applies for Russell Martin if he comes back next season as Leicester manager.

Agreed. It won't happen though. They'll get loads of abuse. As you said its the owners who appoint them . We're all at our appropriate level. Jones, Martin and Southampton FC are Championship standard.

Charlton were relegation candidates when he arrived so perhaps he has found his level, hopefully six points for us though!

Ah, Charlton, one of the few away fixtures you can get to (in part) by boat! Done it before down the Thames from Waterloo Embankment to Greenwich Pier then cab to the ground. So, it’s QPR by train & tube, Charlton by train & boat and Millwall in an armoured car with Kate Aide riding shotgun 😂 [Post edited 26 May 19:44]

Nathan Jones & Charlton on 20:25 - May 26 with 2014 views | cotswoldsaint | I remember going to the 'old' Valley Stadium in the late 70's, a huge place with vast spaces of open terracing, which the farther you climbed up, the more weeds and foliage would be sprouting up from between the steps. I read somewhere that the ground capacity back then was something like 75,000! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I would say that Jones would be mad to leave Charlton for Cardiff, he would surely prefer the Championship to League one. Charlton have traditionally been a bigger club than Cardiff, perhaps the Welsh side have more potential in terms of they are a club in a big city whereas Charlton are a small fish in a big pond, but for me Charlton have the moementum. Jones seems to have a record of trying to snatch success at bigger clubs and then find the grass isnt greener

That was when my mate from school Dick Tydeman played for them, was only chatting to him last week. We played in schoolboy and Sunday league football with other notables such as David Peach and Derek Hales before he was taken on by Gillingham and then on to Charlton.

Although a terrible fit for us . I kind of like Jones and his abrasive character. His record is pretty impressive along with his failures at Stoke and Us. Promotions from League 2 and 1 with Luton. Got them to the Championship Playoffs. Took over a floundering Charlton and got them promoted. He's similar to Neil Warnock . Not everyone's cup of tea but he has a bit of bite and character .

Yes most managers leave clubs with more than a year left on their contracts, that the nature of the game. Whether he sat on his weekly wage for a period of time or he was paid off soon after a manager has been sacked is rarely disclosed .
