I get the UK's always been the USA's lap-dog just never thought we'd be so subservient and a rule-taker from a small country of less than 10m in the Middle East,

Taking back control heh, sovereignty and all that,

Just waiting for our next instructions from Donald & Benjamin as to how high we jump next.............

Unsubstantiated waffle that has nothing to do with the point in hand. If this is what you have to offer then I suggest you stay true to your word and make it your last political post.

So US public opinions turns and David Lammy & Piers Morgan coincidentally about turn the very next day, rule takers from the USA, the EU and now Israel, the last days of the Empire heh.

Oh and Kelly Cates is a really poor presenter, reckon we can agree nepotism is still rife at the BBC!

I wasn't aware that he'd used the image of a rat before talking about Jews/Israel. So you're saying he's antisemitic then?

Only Gary will know what his motives are. Whilst I understand the concerns about events in Gaza, I don't buy the argument that Gary was blissfully unaware of what the image of the rat represents.

Ultimately, it's Gary's social media account. He's responsible for what he posts and should be prepared to be held accountable for any mistakes.

As barrister Simon Myerson KC said in his message to Gary: "Posting racism - bad. Deleting racist post - good. Not acknowledging error when paid enormous amount of public money pa by BBC - pathetic."

I thought Lineker immediately acknowledged his error and apologized.

Be interested to read Simon Myerson KC's thoughts / posting acknowledging the error in massacring those 15 ambulance drivers & emergency workers, pathetic would'nt be my word of choice.

I'm a simple man. Not a MOTD watcher here in Denmark, but always enjoyed him as a presenter. And his equalizer against the krauts in italia 90 is one of my favourite memories. Am I allowed to say Krauts? Probaly not. Maybe the best striker England (am I allowed to say England) has had in my lifetime and a bloody good presenter. We all have our views in the world situation. Sorry to see him go.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

He deleted the tweet and later apologised whilst pretending to be blissfully unaware of the image of the rat and its significance. Do try to stick to the point being discussed.

Benny, I'll leave you to 'Take Back Control', seems you've got it all covered off.

You're right, it was an awful error and his apology lacked the real awareness of the historical patterns of dehumanising a people as a precursor for persecution & worse. I'm not going to defend him, I recall he was quick to pile in on the Corbyn smears. Language is important, "effective political or military actions anywhere in the world hardly take place without an edifice of text and language that facilitates, rationalises and justifies those actions"

It wouldn't. He's already been disciplined by Lord Chancellor Alex Chalk and Lady Chief Justice Sue Carr after a probe found him guilty of acting in 'an offensive manner' and failing to 'maintain the standards of his judicial office' for his tweets. Why do we allow politicians & the judiciary in this country to work on behalf of a foreign government?

No sense of irony or hypocrisy from Simon Myerson KC.

Unbelievable the amount of our public representatives on the payroll & take from Israel and other foreign governments.

IMHO there's no way he'd post a symbol like that if he knew it was there or what it meant. This is a guy that's railed against Nazi type ideals so that simply makes no sense and just buys into the convenient nonsense that any criticism of Israel's actions is anti semitism.

For me he is entitled to his views

Half the world likes to get their point out there these days and Lineker really no different to our everyday jo bloggs. I can't believe anyone is going to be influenced in anyways by what Lineker posts

He has been a decent broadcaster for.decades and was a great striker of his time.

I personally would be a little.more careful, what I posted in the public domain myself about such subjects, and especially if I was in the public eye, but he is employed as a football show.presenter so its hardly creating a bias in his particular job

What I don't condone, is the seven figure salary he has received but that's down to the BBC, not Gary.

But the BBC covered up the likes of Saville, Harris and Hall and recently Huw Edwards
.
The BBC are shockingly inconsistent in their supposed standards.

As an institution of regard, well they really are not !!

So in acknowledging an error he wasn't acknowledging an error? Whether you think his apology was sincere or not, he's still acknowledged an error

Shit but local
