My 20p is on him staying. Last Saturdays play off final was a spanner in the works. [Post edited 31 May 17:30]

Harry Darling : Torn between the Swans and a decision to leave on 17:32 - May 31 with 3836 views | Luther27 | In January in my mind he was going. Our club was on a downward trend towards a relegation battle. A free summer transfer made sense I’m assuming to both him and his agent. Now however things have very much changed. The club appears to be stable with a hungry young manager who’s gained an awful lot of brownie points with the fans AND the players. Just as important the board changes appear initially to have stabilised the ship and showing signs of having a plan which includes ambition. This has really destabilised Darling’s decision making. He seems happy here….more importantly so do his family. I hope he stays….but for once I have faith if he does leave then a decent replacement has already been identified.

Harry Darling : Torn between the Swans and a decision to leave on 19:21 - May 31 with 3424 views | Gardelino | I hope he decides to stay but either way I really really think we should be going for Melker's brother Casper Widell depending of course on how much it would cost us to get him. I honestly believe we will see both brothers playing in the Premier League in the near future. My only hope is that it's with us !

Who said he gad been given a deadline, he is under contract for another month. The club are fully aware regarding the state of his injury, after all they are supervising his treatment. Cut off your nose to spite your face, I like many would be absolutely delighted if he signed a new contract as would the club as they are still in talks.

Darling is an exceptionally good Championship central defender. He has formed an outstanding partnership with Cabango. With 19 goals from his last 172 league games he’s also a real danger from set pieces often weighing in with set piece goals with his good movement and powerful heading ability. At 25 the next five years will be his best and he is only doing what all players must do and that’s look after their future and family. It’s a bit naive to say he’s not a “true Jack” when that’s really irrelevant isn’t it. He’s a passionate player when he’s out on that pitch. We are a club who seem to be getting their act together again. They’ll be aware of the need to keep Darling. It’ll depend as well how tempted he is elsewhere. It must be a difficult decision for him to be fair.

Harks back to what I said in a previous thread. There's no need to be arsey or confrontational. Some people would clearly have liked to see the offer withdrawn and HD told to f*ck off weeks ago. Be calm, leave the deal on the table, and see what happens.

You are making out he has some terrible injury! He has a month left on his contract, hopefully he'll sign the new contract and be fighting fit for the new season

I think that was the deal, but they did give two deadlines which could have worked but didn't. He was under contract then and still is now but can actually sign for another club now we are into June. TBH, the whole transfer window thing has been made a mockery of since the end of the season.

The idea of transfer windows in general is one serious legal action of the Bosman variety away from collapse.

Harry Darling : Torn between the Swans and a decision to leave on 00:04 - Jun 1 with 2535 views | RichardO | I have no conplaint about Darling's attitude given the state of the club this season, do think his injury and results in the play offs have worked in our favour to resign him, we do still need a quality backup if he resigns, both Cabango and Darling have had injury issues if he resigns I will be happy, if he goes I wouldn't be surprised but the main issue for me is more strength in depth is needed and cover or new first choice would be mandatory.

I agree. I also stated the same a couple of months ago. I totally understand Darling's situation. If a fan wants to get upset, then get upset with the then owner in charge (AC) who didn't get HD signed when he should have (like last summer or last fall).

Nobody can force a player to sign. Coleman could of offered the same terms as we have now and he still may have turned it down and waited. Alexander Arnold has just left Liverpool for a free it's all weighed in the players favor.

It has been well documented that the problem with Cabango and Darling signing a new contract 12 months ago was Colemans approach to the negotiations. Where is Coleman now, could give a clue.

Maybe so but Darling is not daft if we offered ex amount 12 months ago what do you think his agent would of told him. Bite their hands off you won't do better elsewhere. Hang fire either Swansea or a club with more money like Wrexham, Birmingham, or Sheff Utd could well offer much more.

Coleman wasnt fully in charge ....Jase and Steve were still the majority owners until Novemeber of last year so it is possible he would have had his hands tied....who knows for certain. There has been a sae change since as it seens our new majority owners want success we have new off and on foeld management. Personally I would like to see Darling resign but im sure if we were his preferred choice he would have done so by now . As Keith has said there were two deadlines attached to the deal all passed so we are bending over backwards for him. As Richard O said whatever happens we need at least one CB as cover on the bench but if Darling leaves we another first chiice CB too. We need to be signing those players early in the window which opens today? and will shut for a break in two weeks we have all moaned about our late moves prevuously Darlings procrastination or waiting to see his best offer though I suspect he us already aware of that has an effect in our dealings.

Harry Darling : Torn between the Swans and a decision to leave on 10:31 - Jun 1 with 1778 views | sw02sea | I think Coleman’s heart was in the right place, it’s just that he was a complete d1ck at being a Chairman of a Championship football club. I honestly think we now have complete grownups running the club, and a top young manager & assistant taking us forwards. The Modric thing was a stroke of genius, and shows this forwards thinking upstairs. Getting the name of Swansea City fc out there in the commercial world, is what it’s all about as far as they are concerned, bringing in more sponsorship, for those essential extra, commercial revenue streams. You only have to look at the Wrexham model, to see what can be achieved with high profile, ambitious owners, who can see the milk & honey land that awaits, in The richest football league in the world, The Premiership

The deal on the table now for Darling is a long way from the "take it or leave it" deal he was offered earlier in the season by Coleman, who was in fact trying to do everything and was useless at it. Incidentally the deal Cabango signed was far better than his "take it or leave it" offer. If you lack negotiation skills the club suffers, look how many players Coleman tried to get over the line and failed. The guy was just useless, mainly because he lacked football experience but also because he is arrogant.

Why would a club who is going to take him do it now when they can get away with another month’s salary (contract end June 30th?). He’s ours until then at least I’d say.
