Quality players who rarely featured for England 13:51 - Jun 13 with 3640 views | Myke | As an 'antidote' to Brian's thread, how about some top players (again from back in the day) who barely got capped for England. Going to start the ball rolling with Hector, Bowles, George and Worthington [Post edited 13 Jun 13:54]

Quality players who rarely featured for England on 15:56 - Jun 13 by PlanetHonneywood | Paul Scholes (I know he played a lot, but we should have seen more of him), Vince Hilaire Graham Roberts Laurie Cunningham Cyrile Regis Clive Allen (Needed more pace) |
Regis is a great shout. Amazing Paul Mariner was so often picked ahead of him. [Post edited 13 Jun 18:12]

Quality players who rarely featured for England on 18:13 - Jun 13 with 970 views | PhilmyRs | From Rangers I’d say Wilson and Impey deserved caps and Ferdinand and Bardsley deserved more caps than what they got. Also while Wilkins was with us he should have got a cap [Post edited 13 Jun 18:14]

Quality players who rarely featured for England on 15:22 - Jun 13 by BazzaInTheLoft | I ask as someone not old enough to see him, but was Bob Hazell worthy? |
I don’t think so. He had some great games like the Cup Final but was also prone to lapses of concentration. He wasn’t a top level player that long, too.

Quality players who rarely featured for England on 14:40 - Jun 13 by 7374Ranger | Bannister would have been selected but was not edible having won an U21 cap for Wales. The rules have correctly been changed now to allow players to change countries ad the likes of Rice and Zaha have done. I also think that Le Tissier should have been a regular in the England squad. Hoddle as manager treated him terribly just before the 98 World Cup. He selected Le Tissier for a B team to play and impress just before naming the final squad. He played and scored a hat-trick, but was still omitted from the squad. We could have done with him in the penalty shootout loss against Argentina (he rarely, if ever, missed. Phil Parkes would surely have won more than 1 if he didn't have to compete against Shilton & Clemence. |
I think Hoddle struggled with someone skilful like Le Tissier because he was still showcasing his own ability in training sessions. Almost like Hoddle would no longer have been the only one landing free-kicks on a sixpence. A weird jealousy. [Post edited 13 Jun 18:17]

Quality players who rarely featured for England on 18:20 - Jun 13 with 922 views | paulparker | David Rocastle oh for a player like that now in the England team Ian Wright crumbly under used by everyone David Bardsley Robbie fowler should have played more Clive Allen Steve Bould Gary Pallister Lee Sharpe Carrick Ledley king Woodgate -miles better than Terry Bowyer -was the best box to box midfielder around 99-02
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Thanks lads. Always wondered the same. I was in Ireland during those years so always wondered why we sold him, for instance.

What might have been at the 1982 World Cup had Regis' hamstring not blown out a couple of weeks before the World Cup in a pre-tournament friendly. He'd had an absolutely fantastic season for West Brom (bar the cup semi-final!) scoring 25 goals. Instead we took Peter Bloody Withe.

No, and I couldn't find it amongst his recent tweets. Not that I follow him. I might regret asking this, but what did he say?
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

Fulham fans claim him too. Going back to over-promoted England players, I’m amazed to read that Danny Mills’ son George is the new British 5,000m record holder! [Post edited 13 Jun 22:25]

Quality players who rarely featured for England on 23:32 - Jun 13 with 592 views | CateLeBonR | Scott Parker? I think he got nearly 20 caps but I always felt he was undervalued. I guess he was up against Stevie G and Lamps and the ‘golden’ generation. [Post edited 13 Jun 23:35]
