Am I reading too much into the goodbye announcement?
“Officially” gone backto their parent clubs.
Isn’t usually a Thankyou and goodbye?

I liked him but you are right was very little end product, we should look elsewhere

Actually he created a lot of opportunities - its not his fault we were so bad we couldn't take them half the season...

Honestly really feel we have missed out here..

Saito's compensation could be on the high side.

3 goals & 3 assists in 39 games isn't me being unfair, it's not good enough.
If he was a backup then maybe, but if he is a starter then no wonder we struggled.

I mean Burnley won the league with 1 assist and 7 assists from their two ‘wingers’ so while I also don’t really understand why Saito was supposed to have been some revelation, his stats aren’t too bad either.

As ever, the difficult bit with younger players is assessing their improvement potential.

Example:
Viktor Gyokeres was with Brighton for four years, no appearances. He was loaned to St Pauli in Bundesliga 2 where he scored 7 in 26, then (in the same season) to Swansea and Coventry where he scored 3 from 30.

At this point, who's making the call that in two years' time he'll command a 20 million Euro fee after netting 17 and 21 for Coventry (and playing all but one league game in that time)?

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

The earlier games were more him adjusting to the championship and besides stats don't tell the whole truth. He created chances and others missed them ( just as others did when Chair created loads in previous seasons).

If he joins another championship side he will be in a better place to score and assist more goals.

Saito consistently passed the eye test for me, going deeper than just the "only 3 goals, 3 assists", there's a couple stats which sum him up for me.

His eagerness to take on defenders and not turn around to safely pass back was refreshing as it is so lacking in the modern game. He led the team with 1.57 successful take ons p90, next was Dembele with 1.36.

Then despite his smaller stature and being an attacking winger, I liked how involved he was defensively. He was second in the team for tackles won with 1.61 p90.

Edwards was like a duck water and class throughout. But Saito is one of the biggest what if's to me, got better throughout and it's sad the last we saw of him was that horrible injury. If he goes elsewhere I think he'll do really well

Agreed. Saito was player of the season for me. Surely our best wide player down that left side. I'd love to have him back. Great to watch both attacking and defensively.

The thing is, that wide left position is already filled by Chair, Vale and Kolli. Perhaps Kolli might go out on loan but even so, I don't think there's room for Saito anymore.

According to Google AI... Koki Saito will be a free agent in July 2025. His loan spell with Queens Park Rangers (QPR) ends on June 30, 2025, and his contract with his parent club, Lommel SK, also expires on the same date. This means he will be available to sign for any club as a free agent at the start of July.

Only going by what Google search is finding.

Says the same on Tranfermrkt website

Absolutely get him if it’s a free transfer. At worst he doesn’t get enough game time and we sell him next summer

Saito rumoured to be going to Portsmouth.

We won't be getting him in.

I think we would know by now, but I guess with how things are announced here, anything is possible, but if he goes to Portsmouth, that be...

Seems to be an unnecessary reference that they were officially our players up to 30th June.

Maybe we are butting heads with Saints over which club should receive the FA payment for releasing Edwards for the England U21 tournament and we are simply emphasising he was "officially" with us?

Maybe it's just a statement saying the loanees have left the building though.
