Clink comes from the 12th century Clink Prison in Southwark, one of England’s oldest and most notorious prisons. The Clink Prison Museum on the original site is worth a visit. The term "The Clink" is indeed believed to derive from the sound of chains or metal doors clinking. |  | | |

You're thinking of Richard Johnson who was brought in to shore our midfield up for the final 3 months of the 2003/04 promotion season, did decent enough from memory but was let go fairly early into the following season when he struggled with the step-up.
Without looking it up on Wikipedia, I'm sure the time he spent in Australia was down to drink driving. |  | | |

He was actually sentenced to 4 years, and was out after a month for 'time served' etc. It always makes me laugh mirthlessly how delusional the prison service is. |  |

The prison service doesn't decide that.
It's the MoJ, probation service, and various parole boards who decide release dates.
