down the road, osterley garden centre, bought items just over £50..would'nt accept the £50 note.
couple of days in chippenham, not one shop would accept a £50 note.
same excuse....company policy.

Its started already in US Stadiums Boston I could not buy water in Lambeau Field without my card and Wrigley Field would not take cash either just plastic.
Ironically they still take $50 and $100 bills at most places but scrunitize them of course but a cashier told me they are told to watch out for counterfit smaller bills now.

The Bank of England spent a small fortune making Banknotes far more difficult to forge.

if the bill comes to £50 or near as, the note is legal tender, especially when i asked her whether they took cash and she said yes, oh but we dont take them. | |
