How far Swansea has fallen ? 20:36 - Jul 25 with 1362 views | trampie | Took a car two days running to Plasmarl for a service and mot last week, so went into Swansea first time for a good few years on the first day, the market had stalls closed, no department store in town and I took an old gold watch for repair and guess what there is no Rolex dealer in Swansea anymore, what is going on, in a city mind you. On the second day I thought I've seen enough of Swansea I will catch a bus down the Mumbles, the tennis courts and bowling green by the front gone, seemed to be building work going on, went for a walk on the coastal path, the pier blocked off, the 'Apple' Bracelet bay falling apart, down to Langland and only two tennis courts there seemed to be in working order, oh and St Helens rugby ground seemed to be a wreck on the way down and what was the pitch and put in Singleton seemed to be overgrown. Everywhere across the UK is struggling but I thought it was a shame that recreational things are going.

Working from home has been bad for getting things done and leads to poor communication and all sorts of work complications. The nation is soft on drugs and it is beginning to show in national statistics. One million new workers on benefits due to mental health issues.

I've never worked from home which sounds like a doddle, never furloughed (whatever that is), did'nt miss a days worked throughout covid.

How far Swansea has fallen ? on 22:36 - Jul 25 with 852 views | jack_lord | just popped in to Mumbles, looks lovely. very continental feel to it with all the bars open. The improvement on the front is amazing. Won't be long before the pier is sorted as well. The beaches are wonderful though why anyone would play tennis on those courts is beyond me even though my daughter was yesterday morning. I have to say that I am please that the rot seems to have stopped in Swansea and I can see improvement all around and the Market still get voted the best in Britain.

I spoke to an old lady in Swansea market and said about the state of the town and she said she is from Swansea but often shops in Trostre because it has a better selection of shops, I kid you not.

This is true. Trostre has an excellent selection of shops. Shopping has changed over the years between out of town shopping and online shopping, Swansea is not alone.

Went to the Bouchon De Rossi on Tuesday for lads birthday very nice there, good food too, although Mrs does the best Steak and chips you'd have anywhere as sampled tonight

If you talking about the path at Limeslade over to Langland that was built after a landslide destroyed the trail path that went before it, it's a decent walk that.

Yes that is the one , I was very impressed I went Limeslade to Caswell and back and the stretch from Langland to Caswell was equally good. Would you know if its concreted from Caswell in the direction of Oxwich/Port Eynon as well ?

I don't think so, I've walked and fished the coast line from Oxwich to Horton to Port Eynon to Overton and Pavland not all at once of course but not for years, it never was then and I doubt much as changed, there are trails along the top above the coastline, it's a hell of a walk which requires plenty of puff and time and water for refreshment

I walk the prom, the path from Langland to Limeslade and Langland to Caswell very often. Really enjoyable especially on a still, warm day. Or even in a howling wind as long as you are properly kitted out. Went from home to The Pilot in the seafront on Thursday. Sweaty weather so had a pint of Staropromen followed by lunch in La Dolce Vita after. Life is not all bad😁.

It was last Tuesday I was in the market, called in a few times throughout the day, I thought there was a couple of stalls shut. A popular place with queues midday was a Thai food place. Cockles cost £2.40 for small bag so I gave that a miss, probably the first time I've been in there and not bought cockles, got 4 small pasties for £1.40 from another stall instead, sat on a bench in there back entrance to Menzies (as was) watching the World go by eating my pasties. If Earnest Jones is on the corner in the middle of the Quadrant I went in there and spoke to them as the jewellers that used to be a Rolex dealer on the Kingsway has gone, the ones in the Quadrant told me they are not a bona fide Rolex dealer but they do have some agreement to send them watches for repair, they don't sell new Rolex. Clive Ranger down by the Quadrant has gone as well, I had a Welsh gold lovespoon that had originated from them, but they are no more in Swansea anyway, I thought it was a little sign along with no department store that Swansea had gone downhill, perhaps every big town or City is the same, I hear Neath has gone downhill as well.

Staropromen that does not sound like a British beer, I have a rule to buy British beer only, foreign lager a no no for me, buy British mun, or even better buy Welsh cwrw. [Post edited 26 Jul 13:09]

Out of town shopping has been the downfall of many Cities and towns throughout the Country, and yes Parc Trostre is worth a visit. The stall you bought the pasties from you should have tried the oval pie the finest around, and of course if you like fish you can't beat the market

(Brains pub wasn't it), Swansea has changed a lot.

It’s Czech and I like it. That’s why I buy it. No good buying lager that I don’t like because it’s British is it? The 4 for £1-40 pasties I agree are delicious and imo strangely nicer cold!

Langland Bras would have been a decent stop off for a nice chilling beer. Staropromen doesn't do it for me I'd rather drink spring water or even a refreshing tonic water. What time of day was that, an old school mate might have been in there?
