If this has been done before, apologies.
What are your favourites, say why if you want. Not mandatory.
Me? Old enough to have seen Sir Reg and his beyond powerful strikes.
The schadenfreude as TK slotted that penalty away to the buckets hysteria (with best celebration ever) will never be forgotten, or laughed at.
But favourite goal ever? We've seen some magnificent ones, but the occasion, the skill, the GOAT, 2nd v Leeds Utd. Share yours please. If video is possible, even better.

Correct. Do you remember the furore over the penalty in the first half. The Dale were attacking the Church Inn end, I was in the Sandy. There was an almighty scuffle in the goalmouth and the ball ended up in the back of the Brighton net. The ref gives a goal but the Brighton players say it went in through a hole in the roof of the net. They point out the hole and insist the ref go and consult his linesman. So he goes over, they have a chat, then the ref comes back and ————— gives the Dale a penalty for handball ! Cue loads more arguing from Brighton. Jimmy Thompson calmly waits for it to all die down, and then slots the penalty away.
Their star player that night, a young lad called Barry Rees, who had just joined them from Everton for big money died in a car crash a few weeks later.

Yes that game was utter chaos and one of the most memorable l ever at Spotland, I remember the noise when we got that Second goal, incredible, but Brighton were a good dide, came back and probably deserved a point.

Very much like the chaos that erupted at the game v Blackburn Rovers in the early 1970’s.

Yes…the season from hell, 73-4. But in that game it was the incompetent officials responsible.

Possibly the only time I’ve seen a player sent off and then brought back on by the referee. At least he admitted his mistake.

Remember it well. Keith Bebbington ( I think) protested so strongly at the referee disallowing a perfectly good Dale goal (the Blackburn fans ripped a hole in the net at the Sandy Lane End and then their players told the referee that it never went in the goal...despite it going right in the middle of the net)

All hell broke loose with several Dale players being booked and Bebbington getting sent off. After a few minutes the linesman told the ref that it was a good goal, and he changed his mind and awarded it after all.

The game was just about to kick off when it was pointed out that we had suffered a sending off because of the referee's mistake, so Bebbington was called back from the changing rooms and brought back on.

Only time I've ever seen anything like it.

Very well remembered .i was watching from that Kop or hill at the Church Inn end so I wasn’t sure exactly what had happened down the Sandy Lane. From my view point the ball appear to go into the goal and then all hell broke loose,

At least it was all about the football back then, a far more innocent era

Recall Fred Ratcliffe saying he wanted Dale to become a permanent fixture in Division 3 (L1). Alas, it wasn't to be

Who could've imagined the times in between then, and now? We're lucky to be here - Dale survived, by the skin of its teeth at times - more than once

We must all remain vigilant about anything that could put Dale in a bad light. When i say we, i mean the fans, the Daleys

Wont be as easy as last time when we used the power of shareholders to block the cowboys. With fans shareholdings now watered down if ever cowboys get a look in in the future we will need to look to different stategies.

True

Hopefully, the Golden Share can be issued as a safeguard against the future. At the same time, we must remain above and beyond reproach in holding it, as and when

Your last paragraph is very pertinent. The fans fought tooth and nail to save this club and the toll was a heavy one for some, not just the ones threatened with legal action. The fight back started on the evening of the Swindon home game when a number of fans decided to demonstrate on the car park, ridiculed by some and viewed as trouble makers, a 'mob' probably. The information obtained that evening set the wheels in motion to saving the club, it was important. That was well before the Trust was approached and mobilised. Fans looking after their club.

At the end of this saga, as fans we all made a promise, to constantly keep a watchful eye on the club and individuals who have bad intentions or put the club in a bad light. I think a lot of fans have forgotten about that now the Ogden family are on board, not all the fans though. If the fans don't do that and voice their concerns then who else will do it? The easiest thing in the world is to look the other way and keep quiet, don't rock the boat but that can result in bad consequences.

The club is now in a different place, we welcomed the Her Game Too initiative on Saturday and also the hundreds of young children and their families earlier in the week to the Burnley game. All brilliant things but with that comes a responsibility on the club in respect of safeguarding and the handling, storage, viewing, of personal data. The Data Protection Act of 2018 demands that and when there are young persons or vulnerable adults data being harvested by the club and the Trust it becomes even more important..well everybodies personal data is subjected to the DPA, it's all important. Its why i posted last week that good practice would be the club doing a CRB check on staff who are handling and viewing supporters personal data, its commonsense when we have such a wide demographic of supporters and we are actively trying to ascertain personal data to target people for marketing purposes. The club might already have done that.

What we don't want is any embarrassment for the Ogden family, nothing that will tarnage their image in respect of the football club. So fans are well within their rights to flag up any issues and hopefully they wont be abused or derided for doing so. We all have a responsibility to keep a eye on the club, especially now that we have a Supporters Director in the boardroom. If fans see something that isn't right then report it, if nothing is done then escalate it. There will be hundreds of vulnerable people amongst our fan base and we should all be looking after each other.

Far from a great goal but the first I can remember. Playing Southport at home in the early 1960’s. It was 0-0 with about 10 minute to go. There’s a massive goal mouth scramble in the Sandy Lane end goal. Louis Bimpson throws himself full length to head home the loose ball. As he belly flops into a very sandy goalmouth his chewing gum flies out of his mouth and lands in the sand, I was right behind the goals and I was amazed to see him calmly pick the chewing gum out of the sand and put it back in his mouth.

Definitely chewing gum. I don’t think players with false teeth played with them in back in the day. It’d be a bit dangerous.

It mustn't have caused any lasting problems if he chewed a bit of sand as he lived into his

One I’m surprised to not see yet is Henderson’s 90th minute winner at Cheltenham. A sublime chip to send us top of the league (I think!).

So many of my favourite goals have been late winners. A peculiar one that stands out to me is Calvin Andrew’s 95th-minute header against Port Vale. It was late in the season so didn’t mean much, but Port Vale were a bloody horrible, anti-football, ‘team full of w@nkers’ type team, and it felt damn good to put one over on them.

One of my favourite goals came 25 years ago today at the Shay.
A Gary Jones 25 yard screamer to win the game 2-1.
