Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 17:33 - Aug 11 with 4145 views | 7374Ranger | I would feel a lot more confident if they all signed. Still feel another CM would be needed as cover for Field and Verane. Tuck might be promising, but could do with a short loan spell to a L1 side for some competitive 1st team experience.
Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 17:40 - Aug 11 with 4005 views | strikerace | First Burrell now Kone Sure seems like Management agrees with most on this board regarding Celar. Burrell, Kone, and Frey (if and when healthy) is a major upgrade
Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 17:42 - Aug 11 with 3945 views | Doudou87 | So we sell league one's top goal scorer aged 23 for 3.5 mil raising to 5m (if reports are true) and then sign joint third top goal scorer aged 22 for a reported 2.75mil + add ons. Its not bad business if true. Time will tell.

Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 17:53 - Aug 11 with 3781 views | EuroRanger | Seems like we've got Burrell and Kone for basically what we're expecting to get from Kelman. I also see Celar going out (though again, given Frey's availability, I wouldn't be upset about keeping the depth) to add to that. And maybe getting Ba for free? Damn. Pretty decent.

TBF, if we're genuinely signing Kone, even I think that deserves a new thread.

Since he seems to be able to play CF and LW, I imagine it would see either Celar leaving or Kolli out on loan, especially if Saito comes in.

I want (we need) Kone, Saito, and an injury-free enforcer. Then maybe we'll have half a chance.

Well I said last year Frey is fine as striker 3/4, but when he's 1/1 like last season you've got a problem. Kone, Burrell, Frey and then Kolli (with a potential loan somewhere) looks a bit more like it.
Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 18:12 - Aug 11 with 3393 views | Wegerles_Stairs | A real statement signing if true. Definitely more confident about this season if we're actually signing a decent striker. Stone the crows!
Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 18:15 - Aug 11 with 3359 views | Quite_Possibly_Ropey | Kone is a fantastic signing on so many levels. Ticks all the boxes for what we need as a forward currently. Current league one player and young player of the year. Has done his bit through the levels. Is on an upward trajectory. Allows Frey to become an impact sub, whenever he is fit again. All that and with the seemingly global striker shortage, he will only need to get 10-12 goals to be valued at 10mil+ this time next year. So fantastic signing from a business standpoint. It's exactly the type of opportunistic signing we cry out for. Yes we may have missed the boat on players like Alfie Doughty, Ronnie Edwards, etc. But credit where credit is due to the club if this gets over the line. [Post edited 11 Aug 19:06]

Also odd to sell Kelnan to bring in a player who was less effective last season, for similar money. [Post edited 11 Aug 18:33]

Wouldn't surprise me if the club are spreading fake news to the regular "reputable not" signings for our supposed done deals on lesser mortals that are usurped like this... Very clever.... If this happens, even ardent Nourry biters would have to say very well done team... Fingers very firmly crossed!!! If Ba is coming in for nothing also, i expect Celar to be loaned out for season or sold and Kolli to get a season long loan. Now lets please sort out our full backs and another centre mid. With Varane attracting interest, hopefully such signings will suggest to him that he should stay here. I expect Varane to be here this season now also. [Post edited 11 Aug 18:34]

reply from a Blades friend of me on Norrington-Davies.... "Do you have any influence on the sale price? If yes he is absolutely fantastic. If no he is even more injury prone the Brewster (look at his appearance record) and is now probably 5th choice defender. Due to an injury crisis get ended up playing on Saturday and was at fault for at least 2 of the goals and got 1/10 on ratings. Looked a decent prospect a few years back but has never played regularly for the first team, even when we were crap"

Well we don’t know 100% the facts but it’s likely that Kelman only had 1 year left and wanted to move. So we’ve replaced him with someone who wants to be here and on a longer deal…and a bit younger.

Regarding this potential signing, its only on the predictable sites that simply guess. Until its on WestLondonSport or one of the daily newspapers, i generally ignore these as they are rarely correct.

Well, maybe more than one, but 'genuinely' is the key here. Until there's a real photo of him wearing a QPR shirt in front of the Loft, it's still a rumour. [Post edited 11 Aug 18:41]

Easy to explain. Last January Wycombe were very much in the hunt for the second promotion place and keeping Kone was a risk they would have thought worth taking as his goals could very much have helped them to promotion with the added benefits of much higher income from TV and gate receipts. The fact is now he is in the last year of his contract, like Kelman so they need to cash in now to avoid walking away, or receiving a much lower compensation payment as he is under 24 (like Poku who could us a fraction of his worth compared to if he was still contracted to Posh). Kelman obviously made it clear that he wasn’t going to sign a new contract so getting £3million for someone who cost the club £250k was great business for the club especially in these days of FFP, whereby the club can put all that money against FFP and if we sign Kone for a similar amount and assuming it’s a five year contract the annual amortised cost to the club is £600K on a £3million purchase price. And that gives us time to hopefully develop him to a level where we can get a much larger fee in the future.

It's on WLS, read OP "Rangers are also looking to bring in left-back Rhys Norrington-Davies from Sheffield United, but that move currently seems to hinge on the Yorkshire club signing another defender."

Less goals maybe (and just), but certainly not less effective.
