Can I be the first to say he'll fit in well at QPR?

Was pretty much word for word my reply to him.

since charlie austin, striker signings have included:

jay emannuel thomas
conor washington
idrissa sylla
sebastian polter
ramkilde
mac bonne
lyndon dykes
charlie kelman
zan celar

throw in the various academy kids through the years like reece grego cox, sinclair armstrong, aramide oteh, alfie lloyd

at some point, just by the law of averages, one of htese signings or youth guys has to come good

looks like the model is to continuously roll the dice, and rely on the "a broken clock is right twice a day" model

It's on WLS, read OP

"Rangers are also looking to bring in left-back Rhys Norrington-Davies from Sheffield United, but that move currently seems to hinge on the Yorkshire club signing another defender."

I must have tried to forget that as i dont want that signing to happen..

Senility beginning to set into memory banks.

Sorry !!

I wasn't too keen on having Saito back, even though I loved watching him play. With Poku potentially out with a serious injury, I'd now be delighted to have him back.

Kone clips.

Poku looked to have pulled his hammy so could be bad or hopefully just a couple of weeks.

My god, some of the keeping and defending in those clips is dodgy as feck. Not sure he'll get all those opportunities i. The Championship. Its definitely a step up!

What's interesting about this clip is that most of his outfield goals are from his left foot and all of his penalties are taken with his right foot. The takeaway is that he has a very low centre of gravity and he just seems to bulldoze defenders out the way. Hope this may actually happen and that this isn't more Ba Humbug!

Never knowingly right.

Yeah, I noticed he was two footed, which is great. Doesn't seem to be particularly quick and might be a little heavy legged, but he can certainly handle the physical stuff. I could see him being a good foil for our hobbit triumvirate.

Saw that too Bosh. Left foot, right foot and some headers too.
But will the deal make it to the dotted line?????

Just seems odd when, not so long ago, Wycombe were looking for £10m.
Bargain at < £3m.
Also odd to sell Kelnan to bring in a player who was less effective last season, for similar money.
[Post edited 11 Aug 18:33]

Less effective? Against minutes on the pitch he actually scored considerably more goals. Kelman didn't have half a dozen Championship clubs after him, it was Charlton or Luton.

Well we don’t know 100% the facts but it’s likely that Kelman only had 1 year left and wanted to move. So we’ve replaced him with someone who wants to be here and on a longer deal…and a bit younger.

Yeah, I accept that Kelman didn't want to be here, so selling him, now, made sense. Did the club really try to keep him?
The age difference is so marginal as to be irrelevant.
Maybe the management though CK had peaked, whereas Kone has more upside.
I don't think there is a Right answer.

Well I didn’t see much of either of them last season. But as Stainrod says above, there were more clubs after Kone than Kelman.

Indeed, plus Kone was league one player of the year and young player of the year - nothing against Kelman and wish him all the best but Kone looks a lot better all round player IMHO.

The defending and marking on a lot of those goals is non existent.

But he finishes well and pretty emphatic penalties.

Where does Kone rank of the pace-o-meter? Kelman never struck me as particularly fast and able to outsprint a defence. Kone? Because a lot of our signings (attack especially) seems to be focussed on injected pace.

From the highlights he doesn't seem super pacey, but looks decently fast. It looks like he'll be more of a target man though.

What is interesting though is that we are not just picking players with pace and skill, they are also eager to get on the ball and use it.
