You've answered your own question in your post.
Kelman felt we didn't back him, he had his break out season, and he wanted to move. Because we hadn't planned for that, we had to take the going rate.
Wycombe turned down £7m plus for him cos they were gunning for promotion. They didn't make it, iffy start to the season and now they get half that.

Which bit doesn’t appear to be true? That he claimed to be gay and used it as a reason to apply for asylum is fact. That he had a fiance and child at the same time is also fact. His agent has reluctantly admitted both.
Of course he’s not even in the top million worst offenders for cheating the system, but his cynical exploitation of a serious issue within the game will always leave a sour taste. | | | |
