Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 13:46 - Aug 12 by numptydumpty | Maybe ask yourself if you lived a life in a country, where poverty, degradation, personal safety are at a premium, and choose a better life where you can further your chosen career : - Ask yourself - Would you be looking at living a better life and a safer existence for yourself and your potential own family. Even if he did or didnt play the system to get in,are you then saying that in a place where your very own existence, is potentially under threat, that you would not try anything that could allow you to live out your dreams in a safe, and more prosperous way !!! If the answer is you might look at ways in which you could engineer a move for your career wants, then be open and honest. If you say you wouldnt play the system- then go and move to the Ivory Coast for six months with your wife and two point four children and answer the question again at the end of your six months in Africa. You won't though..... No sour taste here though. Admiration to be fair. But be aware as Clive says you need to be careful with your words about allegations, its a dangerous road these days and most of us do not want the site closed down through loose words.... There’s a paradox in the ‘conservative’ mind. 1. Everyone should make their own way and is responsible for improving their lot, pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps (think about it: physically impossible), and not rely on handouts from the nanny state. And yet 2. People who are doing exactly that, who happen to be born in another country, are hated, and the state is expected to protect against these upstart self-starters competing for work and services. Obviously it’s human to be illogical and to concurrently hold contradictory thoughts. But it can also be human to be empathetic, to have the imagination to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Or to withhold judgement of someone whose story you don’t really know.

Yes, I read once the origins of that phrase was pretty much the opposite to how it is used today.

I wonder if Kone chose us over other clubs because of Stephan, as he is known to have coached and developed Dembélé (of PSG), Camavinga and others, as well as having Diarra as assistant with over 40 caps for France including a world cup final. Must be easy to convince ambitious young players about the better potential to develop with us.

Good post. I'd love to know why Poku, Mbengue and Kone (hopefully) have chosen QPR when they could have gone elsewhere and earned more money. This is a point that has not been raised, let alone discussed on here. I think its a combination of the training facilities, new coach/coaches, club goals, and the Nourry magic beans.

Without biting on the last two - you’ve left out the fact that all 3 will have been given assurances they will come here and play. You’re not getting that at Leicester or Birmingham. Gametime, money, location. “Projects” swaying players is absolute BS imo.

Money is the biggest and we are not paying anywhere near what Leicester and Rangers can pay. And no player can be guaranteed to play. I'm going coaches, Project and facilities.

Leicester may not be paying loads given their financial situation.

I can be swayed on facilities in fairness. And agreed on wages, but it’s the collective package that matters more. Assurances on playing time is absolutely a thing. Poku and Kone aren’t joining a team that’s finished 15th/20th for the last three seasons to sit on the bench. They will have been told come here you’re the main man, go Leicester/Brum you’ll be back out on loan in a year (which is both absolutely the right sales tactic for us to deploy and likely true).

Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 09:55 - Aug 12 by Wilkinswatercarrier | Why has this thread, about our potential signing who is a striker that is actually quick and powerful and scores goals, turned into an argument regarding something that isn't true? Some of you need to get down to speakers corner and have your debates down there. Can we get back on topic? Namely a sought after player chosing QPR! |
Due to the magic of the Ignore button I am only able to read about half of this particular "debate". I don't know which specific "ignore' did the trick for me, but from what I can see it was worth it.

“Projects” swaying players is absolute BS imo. Completely agree. I'm getting a bit tired of hearing about "the project". I was certain our old pal Joey Barton had talked about the project when he joined us in 2011. But I was mistaken. It was actually "the ideas" he was excited by: "On moving to QPR, Barton said: "My decision was to join an exciting emerging football club that has very exciting short-term ideas and really exciting long-term ideas." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/14650167 Ultimately the ideas must have been unsatisfactory for our former in-house philosopher because by the time he left he was craving a good old-fashioned project: "Former QPR midfielder Joey Barton expressed his desire to sign for a ‘real football project’ after being released by the relegated West London side." https://talksport.com/football/281459/exclusive-joey-barton-wants-real-football- Maybe this is where we've been going wrong all along. Forget about coaches and UEFA coaching badges. What we need is a Prince 2 qualified project manager: https://www.prince2.com/uk/what-is-prince2 Then again, maybe not

Pretty certain Kone didn’t need to have a “guarantee you play” in contract. “You’ll have to compete against Celar and Frey though”

Richard Kone/Saito/Rhys Norrington-Davies on 12:18 - Aug 12 by Lblock | Really hope so - the man has never looked happy here from his signing on photoshoot right up to his recent “performance”. For the good of everyone he needs to move on but I have a feeling a certain youngster wants to hold onto the slimmest of hopes he could kick on. Celar out with Kone and Ba in will do me. I’ve seen neither of the latter ever kick a ball but I’ve seen plenty enough of Celar to form my opinion. Frey or Kone Ba as reserve to that Kolli getting minutes I like. It would be the stuff of dreams to have another DS striker prospect pushing the bench. Maybe this Ciaran Dillon chap but I think he may be out on loan now. |
Cian Dillon 's probably in Devon tonight , not on loan. Vaughan is on loan at Dundalk.

Definitely a combination of things especially facilities and playing time. Perhaps they are also looking to consolidate and then look for another move up the chain
