Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea City : Match day thread 15:39 - Aug 27 with 11591 viewsModeratorC

An away trip for the second time this season takes the Jack Army to Sheffield, and in particular the Owls this Saturday with a 3pm Kick Off. The Owls can be described as having an underwhelming start with lacklustre league form but some resilience in cup games. They are in the third round of the League Cup. Severe financial woes, structural issues, ownership controversy, but possible takeover / investment in progress via an ex Crystal Palace owner.

Not sure about this kit !
Shirt colour is all right, as is short colour, but together we look like Wimbledon ball boys !!!

No creativity in the team. We need a solid no10 in here. Vipotnik living off scraps, Ronald can do anything with the ball. Midfield 3 are strong dependable players but we need more going forward

Absorbed the first 10 mins relatively well then got on top. But it’s not been brilliant so far. Some chances we’ve had should have hit the target.

Too much back passing again for my liking. Get the ball going forward.

Inoussa playing well but still a bit raw. Ronald a bit better than normal imo.

Vipotnik, has he touched the ball? And if not, is he to blame?

Stronger than it has been, it's all relative. A couple of potential game changers in there.

Potential I think is the main factor.
Both Franco and Galbraith on yellows but we look relatively comfortable would have been nice if Franco had got the shots on target and maybe a skill to turn the game.

Plenty of possession but not doing enough with it. Disappointing from Ronald so far. Still think we need to be finding space for a proper #10 type too.

Maybe Widell or Cullen in for Key and move Galbraith to RB?

Widell.

No rush now though!

Moving a carded Galbraith to fullback , no especially given our goal.

Goal and an assist for Vipi.

Nice move, although I think he was expecting it back!

We’re going to struggle to keep him at this rate
Cullen for VIP?

it was speculated that if Vip played more he'd improve and so far it looks like we should be keeping him.

A good goal AND an assist. Maybe it hasn't been our best performance but we're winning 2 nil with 5+ injury time to go. Who can complain?

Strikers thrive on confidence. Support him, give him service, and we'll see what he can do.

In fairness he IS and we should keep
I’m still puzzled why Wales is not considered
If he were , we wouldn’t need anyone

Having balls coming into him from the middle of the park has helped.

It's not just the crosses really. He very much looks a front foot player needing anything to attack, which was no use to Williams at all, and if we are looking for a fulcrum up front explains why Sheehan has had his doubts.

But his tail is clearly up at present, as evidenced also by that lovely little one touch 20-30 yard pass around the corner for Ronald to attack. I hope bridges haven't been burned and he can be convinced to stay and actually backed by coaches and fans.

I was the only one supporting him a few weeks ago. Left foot today, right foot against Plymouth, header against Watford. He even got an assist today. Like all strikers, he needs feeding, but his confidence must be sky high right now. The international break is at the wrong time for us and for him, but let's look forward to Hull City.
