A really decent and consistent striker would certainly help that but I think we'd still need to lose 2 or 3 players (Cullen, Fulton to start with) and replace them with better.
The squad has really taken shape now, 10 new signings so I think it'd be a bit greedy to ask for 2 more good players.

Cullen & Fulton aren't going anywhere. As for Cullen, he's not costing Swans that much but he offers something of value on the field. Fulton? As much as serveral of us want Swans to offload him isn't going anywhere since his wages are more than what other Championship teams and lower leagues can pay.
The question remains: Does our recruitment team still believe in their recruitment plan, or do they tell Celtic that we'll take Idah, but not for the reported £6-7M range. Maybe £4-5M. I don't know. How's Idah going to look at it knowing that he may be playing 2nd fiddle for awhile instead of coming in as the possible heir apparent?
If I make the decision, then I would go for signing Idah and keep Vip to insure competition. Unless there is some PSR consternation, then that's the best outcome for Swans, imo. | | | |

Agree completely, some serious overreactions on here yesterday.
He had a good substitute appearance against Watford with a well taken goal, a wonder strike against Plymouth in a game he otherwise didn’t get into and a game of two halves yesterday, where he was anonymous in the first half and excellent in the second.

Of course Vipotnik has flaws. That is why he is playing in the Championship. He has scored 3 goals in 3 games. His game is improving. Give him some slack ffs. Maybe you should question whether he is getting enough service from midfield.

Piroe was rightly held in esteem down here as a 20+ goals a season striker
Yet he had many games where he did little except score.
That was his primary job
Likewise with Vip
His job is to score goals
In eight days he has scored 3 goals, almost had another scorcher yesterday that the keeper saved, created the second goal yesterday, plus clinically finished his penalty against Plymouth
At any other club fans would be clamouring for him to stay.

We need another striker or we start using Wales but if we did that it would put Cullen down the pecking order as a striker and would Cullen get a starting place as a forward midfielder , I think there will be a number of changes during the season and who Sheehan will use but obviously he doesn't want take the adjustments too soon taking into account new players and injury issues. | | | |

If Vipotnik has a season like Piroe, I’ll be thrilled. We’ll almost certainly be in the playoffs as the rest of the team is stronger than it was two years ago.

Cullen really needs to be an emergency only option for the first team going forward. I posted last night in a different thread about his numbers.
The bottom line is, barring a 5/6 week spell last Nov/Dec, he simply hasn't scored or created anything like enough, especially given the consistent support and game time that he's had over the last four or five years. | |

Vipotnik is work in progress and the signs are he is improving. He is strong on the ball has a bazooka shot and can bury headers.
Wales does not produce players like this. They are very rare. He is 22-23 and has the right profile That's why other teams want him.
