Got back from Porthleven, Cornwall Thursday night, only stopped once at Exeter services, still took us 5 hours.

Lose deep into injury time from an OG having battered Carlisle; hitting the woodwork twice, two off the line, three ridiculous misses, and a dodgy call from the lino denying an equaliser.

Bus breaks down on the M6 return just outside Stoke, whose fans gather to mock but decide to steam into the beleaguered Truro fans for shits and giggles.

Eventually get back Sunday evening bruised, only to find house repossessed in error by the bank, who offer a paltry £50 compensation toward £1,464 lawyer and locksmith fees. Go to work on Monday to find job outsouced to some AI program and P45 waiting for you.

But great bants on the way up!

I played against Porthleven Town once in the Cornish Senior Cup. Gary Bannister had been their manager a few seasons before. Was a huge half-hour drive from Pendeen and we got absolutely battered.

I think the trips to Gateshead & Hartlepools will take longer & York isn't exactly next door!

Easy lads, in the A League, Perth Glory travels 5,370 km (3,340 miles) to Auckland Fc, over 10,700 km return and vice versa for the New Zealand club

You did well. My parents live just outside Penzance so i make the trip regularly. The average drive is 5.5 plus stops. With a 6 year old there are quite a few of those!

If you go to Cornwall regularly there is an amzing farm shop at Lifton Down, right on the Devon/Cornwall border (just before Launceston).

Best/cleanest toilets on the route, plus a nice restaurant and we buy the food for the week there too as its fresh and great tasting.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Love Porthleven Ted. I had a mate who once lived there but has since moved to the Praa Sands area. It has changed a lot over the years but remains beautiful, in my opinion.

Lovely stuff, My old Dad was born In Bow East London but In his later years bought a detached house and moved to St Day In Cornwall.
Naturally we holidayed there with our Two lads when they were growing up.
When the old Man 'moved upstairs' me and me brother sold his place and so ended an era.
I'll say this much about Cornwall now, the cost of living has gone ridiculously high fish and chips and mushy peas for one £14.85, the pasty shop In Porthleven charge £5.00 for a basic bloody pasty.
Best thing now though Is when you come off the M5 at Exeter It's all dual carriageway no more struggling to get through Bodmin or Indian Queens. The A30 Is all dual carriageway which Is bliss.

A non-league aficionado mate tells me … apparently Carlisle moved the Truro fans to a standing only terrace with no cover or catering and created a massive PR own goal for themselves - this was the compensation.
