A case in the Virgin Islands has brought to light emails that show that Lord Mandelson was involved in a 2010 deal in which J P Morgan purchased the company Semphra Commodities with assistance from Jeffrey Epstein. Semphra was partly owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, which had been bailed out with public money. This happened two years after Epstein’s conviction for prostitution with minors.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/epstein-brokered-billion-pound-deal-20483197

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/lord-mandelson-brokered-1billion-deal-with

Separately, a birthday card from Mandelson to Epstein for the latter’s 50th birthday, brought to light by the US House Oversight Committee, contains the message: “Once upon a time an intelligent, sharp-witted man they call ‘mysterious’ parachuted into my life”. In the so-called “birthday book” he wrote that Epstein was known for “taking you by surprise … in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum)”. Mandy had spent a week on Epstein's island, where he was photographed in a bath robe.

Lord Mandelson is the UK’s ambassador to the USA and there are reports that he advised on the recent crisis following Rayner’s problems with misconduct. Reports say that he has said he “very much regrets ever having been introduced to Epstein.” As another Mandy might have said, he would say that wouldn’t he.

Who'd have thought eh. The party swept into power on the promise to “clean up politics” is just as bad :

Cronyism-Gate: Labour donors and Labour Together employees appointed to high level civil service roles, including Ian Corfield, Emily Middleton and as Guido revealed, Jess Sargeant. She also misrepresented her tenure at the Bank of England, claiming it was for a decade when it was only five and half years. The BBC then revealed she was part of an investigation into misuse of company expenses, including gifts of handbags, perfumes, and luxury dinners…

Karen Pierce, the former ambassador, was universally acknowledged as very competent.
Starmer's judgement is very questionable in this case. It feels like the sort of thing Johnson would do.

Ue he resigned when he should have been sacked and facing criminalk charges. Representing the government when he should be locked up

Also, government files appear to show the tories may have illegally accepted millions in donations from a Syrian arms dealer, os it very good timing or just more proof that neither party is suitable to be leading this country.

More likely it's both. They are both a disgrace.

Starmer was squealing under Badenoch questions in PMQ earlier over the issue .

Three times he was asked to give an answer , did he know this blokes background history .
At every opportunity he waffled and failed to answer the question .

On a positive , much as I am not a fan of Rach from accounts , she seemed very sheepish in backing her Leader waving papers and shouting hear , hear as did a lot of other MPs either.

If sacked Mandys book will come out soon after with all types of stories and finger pointing at the higher levels of Government .

Do what Ange did and resign , saves Starmer batting off a whole lot of awkward questions .

Mandelson. Labour's unflushable floater of corruption. You have to wonder how much dirt he has on people for him to keep getting important jobs after having to resign so many times.

The fact that someone like him has become synonymous with Labour neatly illustrates just how far a once proud political party has moved away from the people it is supposed to represent.

He has no credibility….not that he had much before. Mandelson has previous and I wonder what leverage he has on The Labour Party to have attained the position of US ambassador in the first place.
At best Starmer is incompetent….at worse he is a devious nasty piece of work with little regard for our opinions on the character of his appointments.

Just before the 2024 election Starmer said this:

“We need to clean up politics. No more VIP fast lanes. No more kickbacks for colleagues. No more revolving doors between Government and the companies they regulate. I will restore standards in public life with a total crackdown on cronyism.

I’ve put expense cheat politicians in jail before and I didn’t care if they were Labour or Tory.“

Then immediately appointed his lawyer mates, serially corrupt mate of Blair Peter Mandelson and disgraced ex minister Jacqui Smith into important roles.

How can any right minded person look at this guy and even think of suggesting he is any better or different to the shambles that has come before?
