Am assuming, maybe incorrectly, connected to his mental health, whether substance abuse, alcohol poisoning or at his own hand sadly.

Police saying - no suspicious circumstances.

An unbelievable brawler in his time, brave beyond reason, but he wasnt able to adjust to retirement.

Would have hoped more support could have been available to him, especially given what he achieved in his career.

Saw him live twice always remember the buzz around his big fights, wonderful memories! He always seemed to be suffering God bless him, even with the jokes and the smiles there was always something there! Rest in peace champ

No thats horrible news but after watching his documentary on Netflix anything was possible sadly.
Made it all the way from the botton to the top fair play to him but the hangers on porobably broke his spirit and will.
RIP Champ

Hatton would have been even better if he hadn't constantly ballooned up in weight between fights. It meant that every fight camp became as much about making weight as it was about improving skills.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Really saddened by the news. For lots of reasons. Really was a popular fella, especially in Hyde. Not many boxers had an away crowd bigger than some Premier League clubs. RIP.

He was a bit of a hero of mine.

I once drove all the way up to Hyde to watch him train for his upcoming fight with Jose Luis Castillo, it was incredible, and he took the time to sit and chat with me and have a photo taken. Such a nice fella, and just normal, his brother Matthew, too.

A couple of years later he rang me up to wish me happy birthday… loved him.

It’s so so sad.

RIP champ.

Really sad. Seemed to be one of the true good guys who always had time for others. RIP Ricky.

Never knowingly right.

I used to be a manager at a bar in Didsbury he frequented back at the height of his career and the ballooning periods. Absolutely top bloke and fighter but the way he went after the booze wasn't the normal appetite even back then.

A real loss for the sport and a sad end to a great life.

Was found hanged by his manager, when people say “what’s he got to be depressed about with all his money” absolutely does my head in. Needs to be a lot more support for men in these situations.

Many many sports people lose their purpose when the playing career is over and its exceptionally dangerous for those that have a tendency to be depressed and/or anxious anyhow. The highs and the adrenalin and adulation fades.

Best wishes of course to all his family amd friends, that have been left with their loss.

Not sure how these sad stories cam get prevented going forwards though.

RIP Hitman

My missus was an international level gymnast. Consumed her life from around 4 years old up until a fall at around 17 years old during a training session caused a double-fracture in her right arm. Out for 18 months and by the time she was both physically fit and 'match' fit, it was over.
Luckily she was young enough to be able to go down a different career path but it must be so difficult for anyone that has had it consume their whole life then one day (injury, just too 'old' in sports terms, etc) it's gone.

RIP Ricky.

This happens so often at the moment, friend of mine lost one of his sons this way last year, just a horrible thing to happen

Life can be really tough. Not just for sports men and women. Some sort of mental health training should be compulsory in the education system. It's (one of) the single most important part of our lives but we only attend to it when it goes wrong - sometimes to late. Sack all sorts of religious education/practice off in schools and teach personal development/psychology/therapy.

I don't have any evidence to support my opinion but I'd say suicide isn't anything to do with RE! Learning about an all loving God who died for you despite your faults might even prove helpful! Suicide is so utterly sad, the place a person must be, it's a really terrible thing to dwell on actually. Hatton was a great lad, the sadness was always there though it's like an invisible smoke that hangs around people, a healthy mind, a quiet mind is certainly something we all need
