A ringer for Zamoras play off winner?
Just me maybe.
We’ve got a good one in this fella.

When we signed him I wondered if he was an any port in a storm Vale. Turns out he might be a Taylor Maida Vale.

He is getting better, game by game and super finish. Was a bit concerned that Dunne was being exposed a bit early/mid 2nd half and maybe Smyth should be on for Vale. How wrong I was as Vale was able to up his game and crown it with a lively finish. Shine on Harvey Vale.

That pass with the outside of his foot.... my word

More should be made of that, what a ball!

Someone on Twitter has done a split screen with Zamora's goal. The similarity is uncanny.

I would argue that the execution of Vale's finish was of a higher calibre (even though the rewards were lesser) as there were many more bodies between him and the goals. It was a completely instinctive strike - sublime

I didn't think that at the time (because I was jumping up and down in ecstasy) but watching it back, the execution is uncannily similar in terms of pressure and technique. Only difference is that Zamora was a very experienced PL striker and Vale is a 22 year old Championship midfielder and that was his first goal for us so doubly impressive. He tried a similar left foot curler earlier in the second half that drew a good save from Johansson. Clearly the miss after 2 mins didn't play on his mind (as it did on mine) which is the mark of a very confident player.

The fact when we signed him, he was injured for the first six months, probably how we came to get this boy.

Clearly, posseses total class. Well done to the club for taking a punt, where others failed to tread.

Hell of a strike that, sweeter than a sticky toffee pudding.

Could turn out to be the best signing of the lot.

Chelsea let him go to us for free in exchange for a very hefty 40% sell-on.

Don't really care though because when he goes for £20m+ to the prem it's pure profit for us, and in the meantime I'm going to enjoy a few more beauties like that...

Vale’s a really intriguing case. 3yrs ago he was captaining England U19s to Euro champ victory (alongside Ronnie), picking up Chelsea’s Academy POY and making 1st team debut, no chance in hell we’d have got near signing him then.

Fast forward three years and he’s an R. The lad’s got serious pedigree. Not every top youngster makes it in the men’s game, but he’s cut from a different cloth to what we’ve got. Really looking forward to seeing how he develops under JS and co.

We've got Hull to thank a bit for taking him on loan a few years ago and not playing him which apparently held back his development. Our gain.

I thought some of his thinking was really quick, moving into good positions, knowing what he was going to do with the ball before it came to him, moving it quickly.

Think he may still be a bit rusty as well, so scope for improvement maybe.
