That was fab for us oldies (i was around 7 or 8 at that time). Huge huge part of the foundations/legacy of the club we love today.

i was 18 that season, a great age to be following qpr home and away,. had been working for a couple of years, so plenty of money to fund travel.
only lived down the road, ladbroke grove, and the springbok was buzzing every home game, upstairs and downstairs.
at 67, havent long been in, and still buzzing to this day, with great wins, like today under our belts.

Remember crying my eyes out as a nine year old when Liverpool won the title in the last fifteen minutes of the last game ear close to the radio - radio two then I think. Dad having to console me, saying they will win the league next time son !!!!

Lived in Wokingham then, where Phil Parkes has always lived. Dave Clements was living here too, as well as Ian Gillard, they used to go in Norreys Barn, where my dad used to go.

Not old enough though really to remember much more than that.

Find it amusing Parkes and Francis and couple of others, still have the out of control barnets... No premature balding for these boys...

It was good to see them back at loftus road again, but it was a shame that we couldn’t hear a word that was being said from the lower loft again.

I was in lower loft . Couldn’t hear much either. I thought they upgraded the PA system.

It doesn’t help that they think it’s a good idea to blast The Boys Are Back In Town at top volume for this and every Forever Rs presentation to drown out what’s being said.

Yep, same in SAR.

Be nice to get promoted, you never know, they might feel obliged to invest in a sound system that actually works.

Incidentally, it appears to work in the away end. Stoke fans applauding something Gerry said. I suppose that’s what a £39 ticket gets you.

We are in the Loft and can never hear anything. We need a new ground. That’s the bottom line. We are the only team in the Championship to have done nothing of any significance to their ground in the last 30 years.

You’re being very reasonable, more like 40 years.

I suppose the club might counter this assumption as, to be fair, they have taken the private bar away from SAR season ticket holders and introduced a state of the art directors box complete with blankets so in some respects they haven’t entirely sat on their hands.

The reason I've always remembered this game is because the following match was at Birmingham. Odd way to remember you might think, but the handful of us who went to St. Andrews were told in no short manner when totally surrounded, how they, Blues, had noticed West Ham's complete take over of Loftus Rd and therefore we must be a right bunch of anchors. Anyway, banter was short and we got the kicking we deserved.

boston, me and my mate turned up at euston that morning for the football special.
only 37 had booked....we were one or two of that 37.....
a carriage was enough......and that was birmingham....probably safer than the west ham home game.

we were of that age.

37! There were a few more than that at the ground, but not many. I have no recollection of what train we went on, but Euston to New St then a local bus to St. Andrews.

Were you standing up in the corner of an end as it turned toward a seated stand?

I went a couple of years later and it was just as bad then.Me and my mate went on Daphne’s special train, and as soon as we got out of the station we were met by about 10 of their youngsters asking where our gang was.
We must’ve looked so pathetic that they left us alone after that.We spent the whole game stood on that vast terrace trying to avoid them finding us again.
We left the ground early to avoid bumping in to them again, and virtually ran back to New St.

We lost 2-1,and Trevor Francis scored,so no change there then.

We spotted you when we scored and made our way up there from the covered terrace behind the goal to your left, where we'd been having a difficult time. I can honestly admit I wasn't unhappy we didn't score again.

BTW - Not that they brought many down to Loftus Rd that season and er, I will confess to being part of a posse making sure their trip down the South Africa Rd was a speedy one.

Our second last fixture was Arsenal at home. I just watched this again and it certainly cheered me right up. Lovely work Stan, already decided it was going to be a penalty before contact. Oh yeah, forget who mentioned it a couple of weeks ago, but whomever you were you can plainly see the Gooners did not 'take' the Loft when they turned up. They did make their presence known at this game though but were pushed back toward the tea bar.

Enjoyed that. Also impressed how progressive our football was. Never really appreciated it at the time as an 11 year old .... you can see shades of the modern game in our play

Impressive crowd surge when the Hammers scored also. The good old days ...

Spacky, but 1976 never gets old. Actually, on a recent trip over, someone referred to me as a quintessentially 1970's Londoner, an observation I took as a badge of honour.
