I feel as though today marked the end of a slow death that began when Gao took over.
From beating Inter Milan, we narrowly avoided relegation at Swansea and then had a very patchy time under Ralph, with long periods of not being able to buy a win, and an ever weakening squad. Then eventual relegation, a less than convincing return at the first attempt, followed by an appalling PL season.
And now we’ve arrived at being a bang average Championship side.
It’s been coming. A death by a thousand cheapskate, moronic signings and managerial appointments.
Liverpool away, Boro at home...it could be pretty toxic by the time we travel to Bramall Lane a week in Tuesday, when Chris Wilder shows Will Still and Solak how to manage in the Championship.

Agree Dorset. Just caught up on the extended highlights and i was appalled.(Again)
Though, midweek, if the scouse play a weak side and ours put in a shift to get themselves in the shop window then a win in the cup will give some respite for now.
May as well "embrace failure" that's all that we can realistically look forward to.
The happy clappers can carry on clapping, the bedwetters carry on wetting. I'm beginning to not give a toss either way which is a very sad thing to say.
Even if we are tied to this club till we die and I'll still follow them but the passion to support is slowly being worn away, season by season, game by game. It's going to take some to reinvigorate this [Post edited 21 Sep 6:51]

I said in a previous post that we should have appointed Chris Wilder instead of Will Still.
Chris Wilder has loads of experience, he's had success & had to deal with failure but overall his managerial record is very good.
He's a no nonsense coach & gets the best out of players unlike the last few coaches we've had.
He's also an ex Saint having been part of our Academy.

One of these modern catch phrases that came up during SR tenure. Or maybe coined by Russel Martin himself.
I can't recall now, maybe even put on here at TUI. Point was to accept failure and move on/ grow with each failure I think. Ridiculous I agree. I was being sarcastic but it probably didn't come across as that.

Our players used to be sold for millions to LFC. Now they are going to a failing WHFC. Soon they won't even get to premier league clubs.
Our club has been torn apart from top to bottom from the heady heights of european football, continuous PL top 10 finishes and talented youngsters to being just a poor efl club and a feeder club to other European teams in lesser divisions [Post edited 21 Sep 13:22]

As saintwizzler has regularly said, one of Dyche, Cooper or Rohl would have done.
Though Cooper is now at Brondby, it seems increasingly difficult to disagree.

I think it's clear that Solak doesn't want anyone coming in that might actually know something about running a football club.
He likes a manager that's going to be grateful to him for the opportunity and isn't going to rock the boat or be too challenging. | |

Never mind the reserves, it looks like Liverpool are going to play some Academy players on Tuesday night - and knowing our luck plus Isak up front!
The article [link below] only says they will be in the squad but if they do play 4 Academy players against us, SR will probably put a deposit down on two of them for the January transfer window. [Post edited 21 Sep 17:06]

Never mind the reserves, it looks like Liverpool are going to play some Academy players on Tuesday night - and knowing our luck plus Isak up front!
