Madsen on today's draw 21:10 - Sep 27 with 4082 viewsbosh67

He's shaved the beard off and now looks about 12. I like that he is disappointed by some of the performance and takes some blame (not sure why) for their goal. I think he's immensely improved and deserves his place.

Never knowingly right.

Likely to be entirely wrong as I am on many things but get the sense that the club may have told Madsen he is going to be the main man in midfield and they will be keeping him in there for an extended period. Has he played every minute of league games so far?

Really good to see him turning it around. Long may it continue.

Wouldn't be the first player to come from abroad and struggle initially before showing themselves fully in their second season. He's been excellent this season and there are just so many occasions now this season where I have seen him go for balls that he just didn't have the confidence to try before. Hope the fans keep showing him love and he keeps showing us his quality.

Madsen is also benefitting from the fact that he actually plays forward passes.

Something very few of our midfield maestros have had in their locker for quite some time.

A midfielder that can sense a play could be am extremely handy attribute.

i am hopeful that Stephan could see Ilias playing this kind of role this season alsl, especially as he will get less game time up top than previous seasons given our multitude of options we currently have in the three behind the striker or two behind two strikers as the case maybe also.

How do you know? Stephan might put Ilias straight back in as a 10. (Which I'd likely be in favour of, though the possible permutations are certainly now more enticing.)

i obviously don't know where Stephan will play Chair.

i could just see Ilias playing the Madsen midfield role, well himself....

Madsen is a 'one-touch' player, quite unlike Ilias who likes to hang on to the ball for some time. If one subs the other during a match it could work well I guess, but it might also be hard for the forwards to adapt?

The guy sees a picture of what he is going to do before he receives the ball. Great asset.

Iff someone's showing him these pictures, could they show the others players too? That'd be really helpful.

You continually 'slag' Madsen and fail to answer my simple question earlier in this thread that I asked......'what, actually, do you want Madsen to do?? I think I know why you have not answered it!!

I think the most important thing is, he is improving. He has a manager who can see what he offers offensively. Probably the best at seeing what is on and what pass is required. Creates space with a simple first time pass etc. I liked that he went and took the ball for the penalty, showed responsibility and showed some passion when he scored it. It was also noticeable, more so after he scored that he was a lot more vocal with other players.

I really think he has a manager who understands his positives, but also his limitations. Let him grow in the side and hopefully he will work on his limitations.

I don't think he is the sort of player who will have a showreel each game, but there are little things he does each game that set up attacks, that only he can do

Agreed with all that.

Shame some people on here can't see the improvements, and still want to knock him.

Maybe they were right last season in their criticism (even if slightly harsh as he was still adapting to the league) but the stubbornness is impressive not to go back on this and acknowledge his improvement and importance to the team now. 2nd most minutes in the squad, he genuinely is one of the first names on the teamsheet now

It's a testament to the man himself. Coming back from that period out the team last season, between mid December and April he'd only played 210 minutes of Championship football, it can't have been easy. Also think it's a good look on Stephan who has clearly put his faith into him, his well spoken about player development is definitely showing here

Do you laugh your head off at everyone who doesn't answer all your questions to your satisfaction every time? Are you really that entitled?

I've acknowledged Madsen's improvement from a shocking start when the world and his dog was writing him off, and I've made a perfectly reasonable point that Stephan might put Chair back in for him or someone else (which I'd still be in favour of, as Chair, though he can frustrate, remains our most committed and skilled player).

As you insist with Madsen, try to take the positives, and move on.

I think it would be astonishingly inept management to tell any player their starting place is guaranteed with the one possibly unique exception of Adel Taarabt.

Yeah I don't think anyone is guaranteed anything after the half time triple hook in the last game, JS was clearly setting the standards there and then. Maybe it's as simple as the guy is in good form so keep that going. He's also emerged as the standout profile for our 8 position and I can't see who else is competing, Morgan maybe? I don't think we'll see any duo of Varane, Field or Hayden starting a game any time soon
