Northam yesterday 09:35 - Sep 28 with 3361 views | PatfromPoole | Just terrible. Surrounded by mutes all around in Block 41. Unless it's OWTS or the Scouse song, people just don't want to know. Then they start singing for the first time when we go 1-0 up. But shut up as soon as it gets to 1-1. Me and my mates kept trying, but we were basically on our own. Hoping for far better support on the road this week. It can't be any worse FFS.

Ngl, I’m really enjoying the Chapel. It was very empty, but you can sus out any noddy fans singing the 1885 song as they aren’t regular STHs. The stand is very moody and reactive to the game. Much like the game, therefore, there’s long stints of f*ck all happening. The banter is actually quite funny for once. Plenty of room across the board, but I like the fact there’s few… atm.

I surprised by the number of empty seats. I thought we'd sold all our season tickets and kept only a limited amount of matchday tickets. Yeah the Northam was a bit quiet yesterday, fans are pretty tense (scar tissue) , we're so used to not winning it's damaged us I reckon. I don't mind the Scouse nicked song. All songs get nicked from somewhere ultimately and its sung loudly and its well put together imo. Good to hear the fans singing for Armstrong and a nice little song for Tom Fellows but thats not caught on yet.

The main problem is we just haven’t got enough different songs that are easy to song along to.

Are fans allowed to stand up in there? My aversion to sitting down is pretty much the main reason I have remained in the Northam.

I didn't hear any Tom Fellows chant, apart from one guy starting to sing "For he's a jolly good Tom Fellows..." which was beyond embarrassing. Please tell me it isn't that.

I don't really get this "scar tissue" issue. I would understand it more on the pitch. But as fans we have to be better than that. We are playing in games which we are more competitive in, and it is beyond me as to why the fans don't respond to that.

'We are playing in games which we are more competitive in, and it is beyond me as to why the fans don't respond to that' How many games have we won in 50? How many goals have we conceded in those games? May answer your question,Pat. .

Last season, we were losing regularly by 3 or more at home. The games are much closer this season. Are we only going to support the team if they win a game? That's just poor if that's the case.

1 injury time home win against the League 1 runners up . Defeated by Stoke and 2 draws against the Skates and Boro was not plan...fans are disappointed, dispirited. 50m spent and so far we look a decent midtable side with no striker. Tom Fellows song... When the samba rhythm starts to play, Dance with me ,make me sway. Tom Fellows running down the wing , Scoring goals , make Southampton sing.

When we beat Wrexham, the celebrations at the end were up there with anything from the last promotion season. People can show they are arsed; they just don’t want to put the effort if the team aren’t actually winning.

With, what 40% of teams having red as a primary colour, it baffles me a bit as to why we sing “COYR” (as Boro also did yesterday) and not “COYS”? Is COYS harder to enunciate or are our fans just lazy, unimaginative or thick? Maybe all 3?

Northam yesterday on 12:40 - Sep 28 with 1872 views | Southamptonfan | There are two problems with the atmosphere as far as I can see: - The lack of interaction with the away fans. The club have pulled a blinder with this. The posh, most expensive seats are found right next to the away fans in the Kingsland stand. They are the most expensive, the last to be sold, with different people there every match. Who would pay £55 to watch a Championship game? Yesterday, it was half empty. The seats in the Chapel are also the last to be sold, different people and often just day trippers. Apart from what looks like about 20 ants that you can't hear moving about at the back of the Chapel, it looks absolutely dead over there with empty seats and people sat there on their hands. The away fans sing, you can barely hear them the other end and nobody reacts. The old Northam / Away fans / Itchen North banter really used to entertain us all and it got people going and worked up. Everyone is too relaxed in the Northam. Nobody is being wound up. - The boring games that we never win. The performance yesterday was better, but it's so "boring"! Gone are the days of winning 3 or 4 nil. We are just about scraping draws in the Championship and we are 19th in the table. Very few shots, and when we do get one, it flies into row Z. The team is very average. Players taking ages to get the ball in the box, players strolling towards the corner flag when we get a corner, instead of sprinting over there with urgency. McCarthy holding the ball, instead of quickly getting it upfield. There were people next to me yesterday, who haven't seen Saints win in years. People are p!ssed off, I get it. But remember that the club love it like this. Remember the closure of the Itchen north?? The Pompey games excluded, I barely see any police officers at games. There isn't any issues with banter or security. The club must be saving loads on paying for security. You don't meet the away fans at all. It's just not as "fun" any more for various reasons. You didn't see the punch- up by the away fans coaches then? A few saints fans getting stuck in to boro fans, was stopped by security ...but created a bit of excitement. As for the Northam, they seemed pretty loud to us in the Kingsland North...but there were quiet periods when the nerves started to show. I thought Frannies tash had some pioneers in the Chapel giving it large to the away fans ...but I couldn't see and sign of resistance.

Right about the Itchen North - it was viewed by the club as a 'necessary evil'. People forget the original plan for safe standing was to keep the away fans in the Northam with safe standing going from the Kingsland north to block 3 of the Itchen North. As one of the ants at the back of the Chapel I can confirm that I and the others I go with are having a laugh and going to the football is fun again . Don't care if the Northam or players can't hear us, that's not the point. Three times yesterday the away support were rattled and silenced by us 20 ants whilst the Northam kept singing thier song about about us Born is the Chapel

I would like to move to the Chapel. It really is boring the other end, with no interaction with the away fans but that block in the Chapel was empty yesterday. What was it like there against Pompey?

It didn't look like much went on at all against Pompey from the other end. Put it this way, I didnt see police dogs and horses enter the pitch. All i saw was a video of our dancing fan, dancing and one drunk guy getting helped out by security.
