tonight's ref 23:35 - Oct 1 with 998 viewsPeterHucker

was it just me or was that schmuck buying absolutely every little contrick the Oxford players tried?
I lost count of the number of times where one of our players got the ball in a 50/50 so the Oxford player just fell over & was given a free kick!!
And in the first half some ridiculous holding & shirtgrabbing when they were defending setpieces, with Frey particularly on the receiving end.
And then when the kick is taken just give a free kick to the defending team.
Quite a few times the ball went out of play, the officials didn't seem to know who it came off last so just take the proper cowardly option of giving the decision to the defending team.

Not blaming the ref for why we didn't win by the way, I just thought he was the poorest ref we've had so far this season. I found it very irritating & needed to get it off my chest!

He did book his traditional 4 players a game plus their gaffer so I suppose he needed to keep his averages up. He is a bit of a virgin ref in terms of his starts and having seen him on various football shows, he does seem to be from the school of jobs worths and those are the rules despite the circumstances.

As you say, that said, didn't really affect the result tonight.

Never knowingly right.

Had a bit of a mad last 20 minutes where he suddenly got a bit officious after being quite relaxed before but thought he was mostly fine with what looked like a few errors but nothing out the ordinary IMO.

Didn’t book Dembele early on when he definitely should have. The one where the the defender slips and he calls a foul on Smyth looked a bit of a clanger at the time but it’s not like Smyth would’ve done anything with it.

Far better than the bloke on Saturday.

He was poor, think Clive said it was his first game at this level and it showed.

Given that it really wasn't the most difficult game to officiate, he very nearly succeeded in losing control of it, and if it had been a team at PNE levels of shithousery I think we'd have ended with a blood bath.

Was it a penalty at the end for us? I didn’t bring my glasses again!

He think he got tired and completely unravelled with about 20 mins to go like most refs in this league. Lost control of a game that want in any danger of getting out of control .

At first blush, I thought he was a ringer for a young Lewis Hamilton. By the end he'd become a bit of a Christian Horner, if you know what I mean.

The one where Smyth nutmegged Currie and then went to get in front of him. Currie actually slips and he gives a free kick. Laughable.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Overall, it was a poor game but ref made the last 20 nigh on unwatchable.
