I seen enough of him to know he wasn't bullied off the ball by wingers against both Plymouth and Crawley, seen him cause problems against good looking Championship fullbacks when he was played as a winger in previous seasons being able to change his point of attack to try cutting inside then crossing the ball to deliver an assist for a goal. Not sure everyone needs to go out on loan to develop. Any issues he had as a defender were due largely by our set up, marking and poor press as a team leaving him outnumbered on the wing causing him to make decisions as to who he should commit to defend against and how to do it, does he back off players to allow support to reach him letting wingers push him back into the box making defending harder or bite the bullet by making an early challenge to stop attackers in their tracks, very hard to make the right decision if you are outnumbered, the same type of quandary we have seen both Tymon and Key get stuck with to our cost, so we have Samuel-Smith who looked promising against Forest but still had issues leaving big gaps as he pushed forward which our midfield and defensive set up did not cover. Forest and Leicester both created openings that they shouldn't be able to do at times, often because of our senior individuals and teams mistakes.
It is just my opinion Parker had looked both as comfortable in the Championship as others first team choices and needs to be used.
Would say if we have a lead to defend and Fulton was not available I would put Casey on as Burgress and Cabango get through a lot of work and need help or be substituted, the same as Tymon and Key, happier having Parker on the bench, if Tymon goes off Parker comes on at rightback and Key transfer to left back, if Key goes off a straight swap.
All very well have loan player who show glimpses of what they can do but at the moment I think that settled team is more important to solve the problems we are seeing, Parker was part of that settled team towards the back end of last season and has shown more than enough promise in the cup games to justify his inclusion in the match day squad.

It seems the manager and the coaching staff who work with him every day see it differently.

Chopping and changing the match day squad, we had enough influx of new players at the start of the season to try and bed in let alone the number by the end of it?

We will be signing a right back in January and Parker will be going out on loan. Unless Key has an injury before that is the way it is going to go.

There comes a point when sending out players on loan to sit on the bench as back up at a lower level isn't good for their development. There is also a point were players who have gone out on loan and had good game time and come back but then don't get enough game time to get up to speed at Championship level as it appears our new signings apparently need. Would Ben Davies gone onto greater things if Neil Taylor hadn't had his injury?
Match day is a vastly different thing to training, very much like players upping their game towards the end of season to win a new contract or a move away. Lots of ifs and buts in football, the phrase throwing out the baby with the bathwater springs to mind.
Do appreciate some of our posters are more knowledgeable about the inner workings of the club and do appreciate their posts.

Ben Davies was playing throughout the tour of the USA prior to Taylor's injury and was lined up to play that season. If I remember correctly Ben came on for Taylor the match before Taylors injury. Questions were already being asked about Taylors future at that time.

Do remember Talyor struggling in some games but glad he got past his nasty injury to have a good career. More than happy with Ben development.

Imo i think our position reflects our squad, we are mid table because our squad is average.

Dont really see why people are getting het up about us being there, imo I dont think many managers would get anymore out of the squad than sheehan has.

He has to rotate players, the periphery of the squad need gametime so I can why he gives the likes of galbraith and inoussa a rest.

Let's hope that sheehan can get us off to a good start after the break, soton will be tough but if he is positive we can do em.

My critiscism of Sheehan is not based on where we sit in the league but his selections, game management, substitutions and tactics to date.
I have documented more detail in other threads supporting this.
Whilst we have had one of the best transfer windows in several seasons and have added sone useful talent we have lost the likes of Joe Allen and Kyle Naughton from last season whose experience and skills though they were getting on has not been replaced. These two were often used by Sheehan during his caretaker tenure last season especially late in games to help see the game out.

So if we were in the play offs with the same selections would you still criticise him?

FYI if we had got a point at brum and 2 in the game v millwall we would be in the top 6 with tbe same selections.

Click bait headline, quite happy to have bit of poetic license in headlines but when in the middle of the article it says there is no evidence to suggest this it does seem absurd and discourages anybody view the site again.

His decision.making in the home games v Watford and Hull cost us 4 points...which would also see us in the playoffs.
If we were sitting in the top 6 I would still be critical as for me he is not learning.
Time will tell if he is but I repeat my critique is not based on results or position.
His swlection v a big and physical Watfird starting with Yalcoue and Cullen was dubious and the first half showed it needed a change .....shoukd have come at half tome with Vip ( if whom last season I was critical iff but he has startes to change my mind) Stamenic needed ....the chsnge came but not until 9 minutes into the 2nd half when it came but Vip still on the bench though the midfield change made us look a different side with Stamenics physicallity..it was a shane he left it until the 76th minute to swap Cullen for Vip....had he dine so sooner or started with Vip we might have got a sexond goal to add to the one Vip sxored within 5 mins of being on the pitch.
I repeat its his game managmwnt selections and substitufions which cause my crticism and belief he is not the man to take us foward....he wont relegate us but Im not sure we will win anyrhing either...

But we didn't get those points mentioned but why. Fulton came on late in the Blackburn game and we saw the game out for an away win, happy. He was only on for a quarter of an hour if you include a generous amount of injury time.
My thinking on Sheehan's team selections and substitutions has been very much about protecting players, yes Galbraith and Inoussa are the first names on the team sheets for me but Sheehan may have thought they need resting for their own good and with an eye to the season ahead, Franco rested, gets picked scores, a cracking goal.

That is a stupid question in relavence to my critique.....
If we were top that would mean Sheehan had made berrer decisions but personally I dont believe we have the squad to be topping the league.

I usually like your posts and would agree with your thinking that Sheehan might be looking out for certain players like Inoussa and Galbraith. Why not try Parker out at RB? Key has played all but 15 min of the 9 games (795 min). Only Vig, Burgess, and Tymon have played all nine games (810 min each). Like Key, Cabango has played all but 15 min.

OHL posted that Key is not the scapegoat here. I might agree since other players at times haven't played to their potential game-in, game-out, but his statement means that Swans are playing with one arm tied behind their back with him in there all ninety min games less 15. Reminds me of the definition of insanity!

All I'm saying is that Sheehan needs to try something different (for more than 15 min) on that side of the pitch. Whether it's Parker or Galbraith, or maybe even Santos (I think I recall that he can play as a fullback), some tinkering is warranted in my opinion.

I should also add that even Liverpool is having issues with their right fullback. They started Conor Bradley there in their match Saturday at Chelsea but had to sub him and play one of their best midfielders, Szoboszlai, since Bradley was constantly getting beaten by the Chelsea winger. Granted, Szoboszlai has been playing as their right fullback since Alexander-Arnold left in the summer. But Slot wanted to see if he could get by with a capable Bradley in that spot.

People forget that Sheehan brought Naugthon on for Key at times las t season and also replaced Ronald with Parker .

See Whiterockin's posts re Parker, he has dropped out of the match day squad. We no longer have Naughton as back up for Key, decisions of players on the subs bench leaves me thinking Sheehan does not want to risk Casey and Samuel-Smith when they could be put in the spotlight and put under pressure in tight games and happy to leave struggling players on. Balance to holding onto what we got or pushing for a win, understandable to go for the win given the reward of 3 points but until we are settled as a team maybe better to make sure of the points we have before pushing forward for more from a position of having points and leaving us vulnerable.
