Always a great trip . Had a couple in the tobacco factory before and after the game . Cracking pub and friendly staff . Saw a few of the Crown regulars in there .
As for the game . Vale and Smyth completely changed the game. Composure from Vale and the sheer effort and no little skill from Smyth was a delight.
Smyth has finally made the change from good leauge one player to very decent championship player.

I'd second a move to Bristol over some godforsaken hole in Hillingdon too.
The ground is in a great area if you walk from Ashton Rd and North St. Plenty of good boozers, cafes, record shops and cheese shops if you fancy some half time Wenslydale. Stewards are a good laugh at the ground, it's easy to get a drink, there's a roof on the away end and we always take a few so the atmos is cracking.
Our toasted sarnie at Dino's was properly good and we stayed the night and went to Noah's for dinner which is a most excellent fish (and chips) place. Best of all, the boy got to walk home as he's studying there.
The view from the Clifton Observatory next morning was stunning, overlooking Brunel's bridge as it does.
Yup, it beats almost all other away days for me and I'd recommend anyone who has the time/compunction to make a weekend of it.
Some places you just get a feel for and it helps that QPR have a feel for Bristol too. | | | |

As a neutral, I thought a draw would have been about right. Rangers well on top before the first goal, but City should have scored through Twine at 0-0, probably should have had a pen when Dunne clattered Borges, and at least one of Mehmeti, McCrorie or Yu should have scored. Smyth does push McCrorie, but I agree that he needs to be stronger than that, even if that would probably get flagged with VAR.
With the ball, Rangers were about 100 x better than last season and played some nice stuff. City probably found it easier to get round the back than last year, but that might be in large part to both sides setting up more positively this season.
You definitely benefitted from City's injury crisis, as the only CB with pace - Vyner - had to play in CM, with neither Atkinson nor Dickie exactly speed merchants. Pring at LB, Bird and Knight in CM are all big misses, and City are also missing Williams and Stokes in CM.
As for Sinclair Armstrong... City's support has been amazingly patient considering he has been absolute fu cking pony 90% of the time, but that patience is wearing thin with some. You can probably get shorter odds on Vitek scoring than Armstrong. Riis is decent, but there can't be many Championship sides with worse options up front.

Sounds like you had a great time - glad you enjoyed yourself in sunny BS3. I love North Street and was in Noah's myself last week. A lovely spot despite it's unpromising location! The are far more attractive parts of the city, but I count myself extremely fortunate to live here. Love it to bits and wouldn't move even if we won the lottery. | |

Vale has since had a couple of poor games for me at Sheff Wed and against Oxford, then comes on here and absolutely transforms it.
Saito shut out well by Wednesday, changed the game in our favour Wednesday, pretty ordinary here.
Smyth a great stint here and a goal after another of his falling over stints on Wednesday night.

That’s possibly the difference this season . Consistency is the key to getting anywhere near the top six . The good thing now is Vale and Smyth came in , changed the game similar to the way Koki did against Charlton . Competition for places is now an actual an actual thing at QPR .

Pasture is great. Probably the best steak in the city, really good service, and a nice atmosphere. Gets booked-up super quick, so we've booked tables at odd times before. Certainly not cheap, but still value for money for a treat.
If you find yourself down our end of Bedminster, Souk Kitchen, Cor, and Sonny Stores are all excellent. If you're after a quicker cheaper meal, then Pizzarova do great pizzas, and Mangosteen is good value for money, albeit somewhere where they like to get you in-and-out (they're also on Cotham Hill and Glos Road).
Elsewhere in town, off the top of my head, I don't think you can go wrong with Bokman, Root, Pasta Ripiena, Cotto, Marmo, Bravas, Caper and Cure, Little French (not been to their other restaurant, 1 York Place(?) but that is supposed to be v good too). Honestly, there are loads of good restaurants throughout the city. Quick lunch in town, then Matina at St Nick's market is fantastic and there are plenty of good alternatives there too. Dongnae (?) is supposed to be v good and is the same people as Bokman. Cotham Hill, Wapping Wharf, Chandos Road, I would probably say are the best spots for clusters of good restaurants.
And if you're travelling by train, Harts Bakery at BTM is mint for savouries or sweet treats. [Post edited 6 Oct 23:06]
