Success is progression and progression is success

In true terms success in the Championship is winning the Championship but in reality it's to be judged relative to each and every club.

For me I'd love to be playing around the fringe.... a great place to be

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

For the last few seasons I have always started the year with a few different targets in mind that I'd like to see Rangers get too.

1) Get to 50 points
2) Beat last season points total
3) Get to a point where it is mathematically impossible to be relegated
4) Finish with a positive goal difference.

The earliest I think we have done point 3 in the last 4 years was after the 41st game, this squad feels better than 21/22 incarnation so I'd say mathematically safe after 40 games and a top 10 finish.

I think for me, after certain events this morning, it would also include outing the resident censors, who clearly think I 'oughta stick' to talking to like-minded (i.e. humane) humans. I wonder if QPR can help with that.

See where we go from there .

We have to be aiming for the play-offs every season. We might not make it but that should be our target, particularly with the forwards we now have in the squad. Fair play to Nourry for showing that this league really isn't anything to be scared of if you have good forwards.

It is crazy that Les was in charge for so long with one top ten finish in a decade; just such an underwhelming period with very little genuine excitement and a massive part of that was the failure to acquire firepower.

I would have bitten your hand off for a comfortable top half finish. Feels like we could possibly do a top 10 and build a bit further for next season now.
Anything better is likely to be fraught with disappointment and anger or tearing apart of a team that almost made it and we start all over again. It’s all doom and gloom I tell yer!

I would like a season where we dont have to worry about the drop. That means at least we will be mid table and also within touching distance of the play offs. This is QPR so anything that can go wrong probably will but this side kinda excites me...

Too early to say.....need to see if we can play as we have been playing consistently. If we do, and we are going to have bad results, we have every chance of top 10, maybe better. It helps because I think overall the league is very average this season.

We will know more by the end of October/beginning of November.

Promotion would be real success. Doing anything between as well as last season and the play-offs would.be varying degrees of all right.

I'd take 9th and call that a success. Undo the last few years.

24/25 - 15th
23/24 - 18th
22/23 - 20th
21/22 - 11th
20/21 - 9th

And it'd match 96/97 which wasn't our most successful season but is my favourite because of how fun it all was.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Two things I think. First, the division is much weaker this year than last year, and second we have about 16 players who are genuinely first-rate in the Championship, without even counting Poku/Chair and, possibly but not probably, JCS. In that context you'd like us to be pushing for playoffs, and if you take out the Coventry disaster we're in the kind of form that gets you there. There was a lot of focus in pre-season on the first 12 games as being easier than what comes next, but in reality we've played 1st, 4th, and 5th already.

Like always though it's dependent on injuries. To the surprise of everybody Madsen is absolutely crucial to our central midfield with only really Morgan who can replace him there, and he's barely been on the pitch since the first couple of games. Kone and Burrell are going great, but Kone and Frey wasn't pretty when we tried it. Do ten games with nobody who can progress the ball out of midfield and we'll fall back down the table.

Heart says playoffs and I think we can get there in a world where things go our way. Head says that 12th or higher is more realistic and would still be a good result and demonstrate some progress, especially if we can sell a couple for big money next summer and kick on from it.

Now that we have been in the top half for a few games, let's stay there and see where it takes us. Now that we have a stronger squad carry on using it for the three game weeks and especially the busy Christmas/New Year period. We might have a team that is not totally knackered and ready to give the FA Cup 3rd Round a serious go.

Oh, and 14th place.
