FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying 07:21 - Oct 9 with 3008 viewsWilkinswatercarrier

No QPR this weekend, so wondered if anyone is going to be going to the FA Cup or a non league game?

I'm off to Hampton & Richmond v Eastleigh in the the Cup. Hampton in the NL South while Eastleigh are in the NL.
A couple of QPR connections with Alfie Tuck for Hampton and Jordan Cousins at Eastleigh.

Anyone else going to a local game this weekend?

Yep.... Chatham Town, I work in Chatham, are going to Tonbridge Angels on Saturday. .

Chatham underdogs as Tonbridge are higher up on the FA pyramid

Designated driver for 3 lads from work... yes the joys of getting old .... looking forward to it

C'mon "The Chats" ... be strange going to a game without the added stress of a Rs game...

I’m tempted to go to the local derby between Weston super mare and Needham Market, but I haven’t got 24 hours free to get there and back.

Looks better now that he’s packed it up lol spoke briefly of course I told him he should have have passed it to Furlong he’s now Kingstonian Manager must have been scouting or something

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

Work will probably get the better of me this weekend but the tie that tempts me most is Wealdstone v Whitstable Town. The Oystermen of Kent are the only 9th tier team left in the competition. Wealdstone (4 levels above) should see them off but the Bivalve Boys shouldn’t be underestimated. Last year they narrowly missed promotion in the Southern Counties East Premier League play-off and they’re already looking strong this year. And of course the Mollusc Men have a great cup pedigree having won the FA Vase at Wembley last May.

Interesting times at Wealdstone too. Ex-Orient board member, American businessman, Nick Semaca, is due to take over at the end of the month. It’s not confirmed if he’s promising Champions League football in 10 years but nevertheless there’s a buzz of anticipation going around the club. It’s set be an intriguing afternoon at Grosvenor Vale and with the Shellfish Ultras likely to bring a fair few down there should be a decent atmosphere too.

Eastleigh is my local non league team, when I drove past there this morning I saw that there next home game is against Scunthorpe.
I can’t believe last time we played them was under Warnock in this division and they beat us 4-1!
They’ve been through it recently and appear to be on the up, good luck to them.
Sometimes we should be grateful for small mercies.

Thinking of maybe going to Slough vs Enfield: went to Wexham Park loads growing up but not been to the new ground yet.

Did somebody mention Southall FC? I did not know they were still in existence. I was a keen fan back in the Fifties but left the area soon after that and lost touch. What league are they now in?

Uxbridge are hosting QPR Legend/Icon/Favourite (I'll let you lot comment further on that) Charlie Austin's Basingstoke Town on Saturday at the Honeycroft, near West Drayton station

£8 on the gate. The ground has been improved a lot over the last couple of seasons and is now one of the better Non-League grounds in London (& Beyond) for my money. Fully licensed bar, Food hut, Club shop etc. Even has a scoreboard these days. Attendance is not huge, but up by around 150% so far following our playoff win last season. Basingstoke travel well apparently, so we are expecting the biggest crowd of the season this Saturday.

So on behalf of the Uxbridge Supporters Club, we'd be delighted to welcome any QPR fans looking for a game this weekend to the Honeycroft.

Will be at the Beveree to watch Hampton v Eastleigh. Went to the previous round. Merthyr away. Absolutely love non league. I am currently on crutches due to a knee injury and the Welsh looked after me throughout. Eastleigh will be tough and Tuck will he vital. Been superb so far this season. Some good football played by Hampton this year. Check out goals against Dover away on You Tube. High, high quality.

Was there last week for the Slough Town game. Had a fantastic day out. Great set up with the clubhouse and bars and very friendly fans and staff. Wonderful and characterful old style ground with various 'old skool' type terraces and stands. Excellent beer too. Good luck v Eastleigh and hopefully a big tie in the next Round.

Slough Town v Enfield Town for me. Noah McCann, young QPR defender, was on loan at Enfield and was an unused substitute in our league match against them at the end of August. Not sure if he's still there or injured - he doesn't seem to have featured much for them. Will keep an eye out out for him on Saturday.

Have been enjoying The FA Cup with the Rebels this season so far. Let's face it we rarely get to enjoy this competition with the R's, so it has been a real treat. Trips to Welling Utd and Bedfont Town (right next to Heathrow) and now a thrilling opportunity to progress to the First Round Proper.

It's a massive competition for non league clubs as the prize money is decent and obviously progression to the First Rouund could potentially lead to a big, televised match against the likes of Cardiff, Bolton, Reading or Huddersfield etc.

Therefore, unlike at League level where clubs often field weakened sides so they 'can concentrate on the League', at lower level, the competition is taken deadly seriously- a real throw back to earlier days for some of us of an older generation! I'd urge anyone to go and watch your local team in this weekend. You'll see a full blooded, good old fashioned Cup tie!

A few years back we beat Eastleigh away 1-0 and then got Oldham at home in draw. It was televised. I was brought up in Shep Bush and am 100% QPR through and through but I follow Hampton often home and away because of the cost and experience. It is very much old skool. I'll never forget a couple of years ago turning up at Hungerford away and like an oasis they had Hofmeister on draft. Follow the f ing bear. To be fair I spend a lot of time checking twitter for QPR scores during games but I am very happy with this duality. My 16 year old son however is hardcore rangers and is the reason I was at Fleetwood away a few years ago and Plymouth away this year. Both great clubs to support. Hampton and QPR.

I hear you mate - I have the same duality and tend to prioritise rhe Rebels over Rangers these days. I go to Rangers when Rebels are playing a long way from home, so will be at the Millwall match. Like you , I'm always checking the R's score on the phone or the screen in the bar.

Like you say, it's much better value for money and the experience is fantastic - it's a good day out whatever the result, and the gems you find, like the Hofmeister on tap, keep you wanting to seek out brand new grounds and return to old ones. Last week at your place, half the Slough team joined us in the bar after the match for a chat!

And going to the Rangers games seems a real treat now, rather than the chore it often felt like when I was a season ticket holder. I plan the games I'm going to well in advance and always look forward and enjoy them whatever the result or performance. Variety truly is the spice of Life!

It's great to see non League flourishing and can see it getting bigger with the attractions of affordability, decent football and excellent hospitality.

Yes Southall still going strong they groundshare at Hayes now isthmian league same as Hayes & Yeading. Southall are the oldest club in England I believe also longest club that have not had a permanent home have ground shared since being kicked out in the 90s! Bit of a nomadic few decades recently the Skyex is a lovely ground fantastic for the level they are at

Been to watch Hampton at Slough a couple of times. Friendly locals, easy access to beer and a large wetherspoons on the way back to the station! Your captain is a bit of a legend. A quality leader and player. Is he player manager? Left back looked good also. Direct and pacey. You took your chances really well at our place. Looking forward to the return fixture.

Do you need to book in advance or just turn up?

Slightly cheaper to book in advance but ok to turn and pay on turnstiles. Don't forget to get your golden goal ticket and a drink from the outside bar. Beveree trust, supporters group, are superb and ran a lovely coach to Merthyr. Club emerging from some mistakes in terms of ownership and a real buzz round the ground this season. Amazing turnaround of players. There is only one regular player still playing from last year!!

Glad you enjoyed it. Next time let me know if you're coming and we can meet for a beer or 3. There's few of us fellow R's down there. Scott Davies is our player manager and as you say a Slough Town legend. Very clever bloke. He's probably got another year or two playing as well, but I hope he stays at the club for many more years yet to come.

Enjoy the game tomorrow mate - I'll keep a close eye out for your score. Will be tough against higher level opposition.

I have a season ticket at both QPR and Slough Town (don't go to all the Slough games, but like to support the team financially although I haven't lived in the area since I was young and they played at the Dolphin (pre Wexham Park).
Went to Hampton & Richmond v Slough Town last Saturday .... the bloke who sits next to me at Rangers was there supporting Hampton, me supporting Slough. An exciting game (probably not so much for Hampton fans) and always enjoy non league games.

Recently at Slough v Chippenham I was sitting next to a Chippenham fan who was originally from Wembley and was a Rangers fan .... small world!
