Conference in the Brangwyn Hall watching on Sky looks like there's about 50 there, and now backtracking on a vote for them is a vote for independence desperate for power

I hope people remember this is the party who have propped up Labour

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

What is the worse case - Plaid propping up Labour or Labour propping up Plaid ?

It’s going to be a hung Senedd. Hopefully Reform can throw a spanner in the works.

Better still just abolish the place it’s been a disaster for Wales & Welsh people from day one (unless you live in Cardiff & district of course)

Abolishing the Senedd would be anti Welsh and end Wales as a notional nation with a level of self determination...Wales would become part of England like Cornwall who are now seen as English

It would be the final surrender after 1300 years of resistance to the dominant neighbours who beat up many people all over the World but never fully absorbed the Cymric peoples.

We have privileges and we must fight to keep them. A national football team in FiFA for one. Welsh surrender monkey cannot be allowed to give away our national status.

Playing in the English league is just one of the privileges we have. We should not change anything or rock the boat.

The people of Neath Port Talbot thought thing would not change for them. While the closure of the furnaces are not directly related to Brexit there's is now news the the EU could pile sanctions in the new plant. I believe Ineos was lost due to Brexit uncertainty. Unintended conseqences can be disastrous..

I just took a look at some recent policy statements to remind myself of what Plaid stand for, beyond Welsh independence. Here are some snippets.

Big spending pledges re: higher child benefits, universal credit, sick benefits and maternity payments; end 2 child cap; free social care; higher NHS salaries and GP funding; more teachers and universal free school meals, more funds for cultural, heritage and arts, etc. Pilots of universal basic income.

Allocate resources needed to make good on Wales’ pledge to be a nation of sanctuary. End hostile environment to immigration. Safe routes for asylum seekers. Uphold commitment to 1951 Refugee Convention, and oppose withdrawal from or changes to ECHR.

Net zero by 2035 (compared with Miliband’s 2050 target). No new nuclear sites or oil and gas drilling licenses.

End the UK’s independent nuclear deterrent by not replacing Trident.

Increase National Insurance contributions for higher earners, and introduce a wealth tax. Increase energy company windfall tax.

Transfer power over reserved matters such as criminal justice to Senedd. Similar tax raising powers to Scottish Parliament. Independent Broadcasting Authority for Wales.

Rejoin EU at first opportunity

Woke policies such a Victims Commissioner, special community facilities for women offenders, drug consumption rooms and decriminalisation of soft drugs. Establish Wales’s first Transgender Clinic, and adopt strong policies in relation to trans equality. “Support the reform of the Gender Recognition Act to introduce a streamlined, de-medicalised process based on self-declaration and in line with international best practice.”

To me this looks like an economic and social disaster waiting to happen. Would the IMF bail out a newly independent Wales or ask it to go cap in hand to the UK? I did vote for Plaid once years ago but I’d say they are unelectable if people look at their declared policies.

Anyone with an ounce of sense can see those policies are unworkable and just election promises. But it is targeting the core Labour voters and will push Labour further down the ladder.

I looked specifically at the SKY news broadcast to check what you said raynor that it looks as if there were only about 50 there. At the end of Rhun's speech you could clearly see there were around 300 in the background behind the SKY reporter and that's without being able to see the whole of the room.

So that means there may well have been ten times the number there compared with the fifty that you mention.

I thought i'd put that out there for balance.

When you read that list of policies it’s the mirror of what Reform are offering. Oth are ecreames a and completely undeliverable.

What I think the country could do with now is a successful moderate Conservative Party without the rubbish brought in essentially to get Brexit done.

They still seem to be a long way from any meaningful recovery.

The WDA was slagged off for yrs and yrs, but I don't remember it as being as bad as it is with this Labour lot at the white elephant that the dreaded Senedd is.

Look at the lot that's leading Welsh labour and their willy nilly spending on things that should be spent on the NHS and services in Wales to serve the Welsh people far better than we are being served at the moment.

Nuclear deterrent - Not devolved

National Insurance - Not devolved

Foreign policy - Not devolved

Asylum and immigration policy - Not devolved.

International treaties - Not devolved

Tax making powers - not devolved

Company windfall tax - not devolved

Rejoin EU - Not devolved

Reform of the gender recognition act - Not devolved

If this is a pitch for them to be elected to the Senedd they must think we are blithering idiots.

Presumably they know they can’t do any of this?

So if Plaid are not the answer, and Labour aren’t the answer, what next?

The Tories who were disastrous for 14 years and put the country on it ass?

Or Reform who would immediately cost the country £120 billion by letting people pay no taxes on the first 25k ( Farge words), and 20p per litre off fuel duty (Farage words). Now that would mean hospitals shutting, no fire service, no police, no road repairs etc etc. are people so thick that they would allow this to happen?
Nobody with even quarter of a brain would be taken in by this clown.

Each county self govern perhaps.
Any ideas?

But Farage will save me £2500 in income tax, and £1500 a year in fuel duty.
£4000 less tax for me to pay each year. That’s not including the other things that he has promised.

Does anyone think that he is telling the truth ? Anyone ?

Out of curiosity I just looked at a youtube video of the Conservative Party Conference.

James Cleverly was making a speech and you'd expect the room to be full. It looked like about 500 there with more than that number of empty seats.

How far the mighty have fallen. I think i'll try Kemi's speech next.
