NFL on Channel 5 10:01 - Oct 13 with 2549 viewskingsburyR

Now I love my NFL and enjoy Neil Reynolds on Sky.

I decided to watch the game on Channel 5 last night.

Christ, I am not sure what they are tying to achieve but outside of the game the actual show was dreadful. All three presenters are trying to hard and the concept is absolute dross.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Yeah it was total dross.
Like the car park segment of the post Lovejoy Soccer am sandwiched in-between the actual game.

Not really an NFL fan but I thought I'd give it a go. When the QB throws long to a receiver, is the defender chasing him not allowed to put hands on him or something, as that was seen as a penalty?

Whats going on?

Yeah I was forced in to watching this drivel when one of my team's games was aired on C5. It was completely embarrassing. It's incredible to me how wrong British broadcasters get the want and need of the UK NFL consumer. They constantly assume everyone tuning in has never watched a game before and couldn't possibly comprehend any subtleties.

Reynolds and Schecter are good and manage to actually add something rather than persistently patronise their audience. Jason Bell is a little over the top but at least he adds energy to a broadcast. Sky are a billion miles ahead of anyone else that tries to air the sport in the UK.

The glory days for me were Kevin Cadle (RIP) and Nick Halling. Halling was absolutely terrific. Knew his stuff inside out, a great broadcaster / journalist and had a personality. Maybe I'm just miserable and old but I'd watch and listen to him an infinite amount of times before watching Sam Quek spouting nonsense 'banter' and try to toss a ball into a bucket from ten yards.

Cornerbacks are only allowed to make contact with a receiver within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. Any contact after that would result in a penalty. If the ball's not in the air it would likely be ruled holding, a 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down. If the ball's in the air and catchable, it would be pass interference and a spot foul penalty, as in they move the ball up to where the foul took place, which can be wildly penile and move the ball 20/30 yards at a time.

Over the last 20 years refs have allowed less and less contact by corners to make it far easier to throw the ball successfully. Certain QBs master the art of putting the ball deep in areas in can't be intercepted but unlikely to be caught knowing full well there will likely be contact, knowing they will move the ball via Pass Inteference penalties.

An electrician came to my abode today who’s best mate was a Sheffield Wednesday fan.

Now that does suck.

A gentleman of no fixed abode and a regular participator of certain substances who walks around my neighborhood at 100mph informed me of this weekends plight while I was standing outside my house. That’s how I found out the result😃

Charm's sparky is a fast-moving coke head, who's chummy with a Wednesday fan.

I don't think he could have been clearer to be honest. However, why he felt the need to share, not so clear!

I used to watch Red Zone but now I go onto adfree YouTube and watch the highlights of every game not knowing any of the scores, takes up much of my Monday but it’s really exciting and the only way to watch nfl.
You have to block out the tiny score flashes top left corner to keep the excitement going

NFL live is pretty dull otherwise in its entirety so highlights the way to go

I’m finding I’m watching YouTube than actual tv stations these days some great content as I’m into aviation, nature and some YouTubers and their GoPros are really interesting.

Fair bit of qpr content on there including WSL hoops and dreams Dave b’s qpr history and others

captains fantastic

Ah.

Thanks.

Just wasn't sure what relevance this had to NFL.

Clearly should have been posted in the Tradesmen Drug Addicts thread

College Football is where the cool kids hang out. Has any team ever fallen further and faster than Penn State in the last three games? Bye, bye, big game James Franklin.

I actually didn’t mind the NFL show. This is the first year I haven’t subscribed to game pass which is now on DAZN as I move to Texas next month. I didn’t want to watch the sky game a couple of weeks ago so decided to watch Channel 5. Coverage this year is better than ever, Channel 5 showing a couple of games, sky showing multiple 6 pm and 9 pm games, it really is a good time to be a uk based nfl fan. As for new Reynolds, I don’t really like him and he embarrassed me at a fan forum. We were asking questions and he accused me of turning it into a press conference when it should’ve been fun. I asked a player a legitimate question and I don’t think they’re expecting somebody to have some good knowledge. Was probably expecting me to ask him what his favourite type of cheese is.

My lady went to a subsidiary of UT so I root for the Longhorns… and her ex-husband is an Aggie so that makes it even funnier. Hope you’re well mate?

Anybody going to the game at Wembley Sunday? Six of us going, although the price was ridiculous this year to be in the lower bowl.£146 with fees, just to the corner of the end zone.

I see Wembley gets a College game next year, cheapest tickets for £71 which I thought was quite steep. Not much demand at the minute as there were tons left on Ticketmaster.

Incoherent here.

a) Boston lamenting how the Ravens suck however Sheffield Wednesday being brought up in conversation made me think that really does suck compared to being a Raven fan.

b) The electrician is not a coked up meth head as far as I know.

c) The methhead told me the score, in a very shouty voice, implying I didn’t really know they were playing and when. The ravens not Sheffield Wednesday.

d) A colleague is going to take me to a ravens game. I agreed only on the premise I wouldn’t have to participate in high fives every 5 minutes.

e) clearer

f) probably not

g) thank you and good night

h) it’s been fun
