Yep, he’s a dead man walking already. It’s how bad the board are willing for it to get.

We already know that. They sack them when it's too late for the next guy to make any difference to the season's outcome. Unless we get absolutely battered by someone - and the defence now looks too good for that - it's going to be 10 more games at least. The new guy needs to be at least 10 points off the play-offs, otherwise it would too easy for him.

Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict on 12:35 - Oct 19 with 914 views | saintwizzler | Was there any need for 3 Centre Backs and 2 Defensive Midfielders to be starting against Swansea? In a game that’s crying out for a Centre Forward, to leave Damion Downs on the bench speaks volumes of the manager’s thoughts about the player. Lallana is circling Will Still!!

Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict on 12:40 - Oct 19 with 896 views | 1885_SFC | 10 games gone and we've got a paltry 12 points. Keep that form up until the season's end & we'll have around 51/52 points at best. Leeds & Burnley were both promoted with 100 points each last season. Even Bristol City who took the last play-off position finished with 68 points. In our promotion year, we finished 4th with 87 points. Sprinkle what you like on it & dress it up however - but we are so far off the pace it's both embarrassing & sad in equal measure.

In 10 league games, we've scored 11 goals. Not hard to see where our biggest weakness is by a mile. Meanwhile, Boro (21 points) had a good win over Ipswich on Friday night & Coventry (22 points) look very good & won yet again yesterday. The 4 play-off places are anyone's really. There's only 1 solitary point in it between 3rd & 6th. The fact that we couldn't even beat a poor Swansea yesterday means that yet another game passes us by where the top clubs stretch their lead over the likes of us. If we're waiting, desperately, for the January window in which to nab a striker from somewhere, then I dread to think how far behind we'll be come January 2026. Will Still needs to find a solution - and quick. I'll help him out. Resign now Will - and go and get Danny Rohl instead!

Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict on 14:28 - Oct 19 with 674 views | Southamptonfan | I totally understand Nick's sentiments here. We have the quality to have totally destroyed Swansea yesterday, Pompey and Derby too. I think with a decent manager, we would have won that 5 nil. This manager is not getting wins and we are in an unacceptable position in the league. We are getting some draws because we have better players than the opposition, bought for a lot more money than their players. A draw at home to Swansea, after draws against Pompey and Derby are not something to celebrate for a club of our size, aiming for automatic promotion. The manager really shouldn't have been appointed in the first place, he's bpring, wooden and dull but we are where we are. However, I will say that yesterday was a little bit "unlucky", hitting the post 3 times, and having all those chances. At least it was dominant and a bit more convincing. We are very slowly improving (Sciensa, Jelert, not conceding goals) and all I can say is let's see what happens in the next two games. I can't see us winning away at a raucous Ashton Gate Tuesday, and if we don't, ofcourse the pressure will continue on the manager and rightly so. Let's see if this performance is just a one off or if we have turned a corner. [Post edited 19 Oct 15:07]

Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict on 12:37 - Oct 20 with 410 views | SonicBoom | Completely agree with Nick. I have no idea what Still is trying to do. His selections are baffling, and if they worked I'd say he knows more than we do. But it never works. Players come into the team that couldn't get on the bench, then play well and are benched again. We all know who the better performing players have been this season, get them in the team! On a wider note, we just look so overcoached. And we have since the latter days of Ralph. I'm a firm believer in a disciplined approach to defending etc but once you get in the opposition half the creativity needed cannot simply be coached. You have to let players do their thing. Modern coaches seem to feel the need to interfere with this all the time. Hence you get midfielders hesitating to try a killer pass so they go sideways. Forwards lay the ball off or send it back the way it came for fear of being the one that gives it away. We end up with great possession stats but no goals. I'd rather see a player giving it away every time trying to play a pass designed to hurt the opposition, than watch us play sideways and backwards trying to probe for one perfect opportunity.

Do we give Rohl 10 games to get it right or possibly less? Maybe we should give each manager a ten game contract.

Too late. He's about to be appointed Rangers new manager - so we'll never know. I am glad however that you are over the moon with Will Still and the job he's doing thus far. Clinton Cards have some wonderful Christmas cards in this year for you to send him & let him know your joyful approval.

I'd be stretching it a bit to describe myself as over the moon with the manager! I'm as frustrated and disappointed with the season as much as anybody else. The last 3 years Saints have continually sacked managers and its not really worked so just want to see this guy be given a fair crack as we're a basket case club with no decent or fit centre forwards and after getting the mighty 12 points last season it was likely going to be a bit of a rebuild. Leicester and particularly Ipswich have been just as disappointing and they were nowhere near as bad as us last season.

To be honest, all of us Saints fans are pretty pissed off at the moment - and that's putting it mildly. After the most miserable, pathetic & hugely embarrassing season I can ever remember last season, we had high(er) hopes this season of at least making a bloody good start & we 'should' have been a team that were exciting to watch (we're not), have a manager who had us flying out of the blocks from the off (we haven't), and who were hard to beat (we aren't). Above all, a manager's job is to get us playing bloody good football with a settled team... but instead we've got one who makes poor team selections, poor formations, has no game plan at times and makes poor substitutions. Will Still was not the manager for us. He needed to go to a L1 or L2 side & gain experience & earn his corn in the English game. He may well come good one day at some club or other - I hope he does - but he isn't the right fit, right now, for a club like Southampton. I don't blame Still. We were an offer he couldn't turn down. The finger of blame, once again, is pointed at our owner and the boardroom - none of whom really appear to know how to run a top football club or look like they can change that stance anytime soon. So on we plod. I see more & more tetchy and niggly remarks on this forum every day with fans having a go at each other. We're all pissed off - pissed off because it's all so frustrating with no end in sight of turning things around. Every week it's the same old, same old. Somewhere, somehow, we need to really 'click' & put together a run of really good performances & win after win after win. But all of that just feels as far away as ever, sadly.
