Bizarrely, given he had more than a smattering of vintage 1970s Stan in him, and was as skilful. You have to wonder if there was a bit of envy there. Gerry apparently preferred the terrible Rob Steiner later on and did fall out with one or two players if memory serves.

Rob Steiner the clockwork striker.

He was miles away from being terrible.
Really liked him myself.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

was at Elland Road that day, my Sunday team had 3 Dirty lids fans and a few R's, so 2 cars went up there.

at 2-0 down after about 20 minutes I was ready to head home; Leeds were battering us. Then that goal and Ray pulling the strings...... what a great day out that was

Met him while working at KC WIZ games. Honestly lovely man who loved chatting Rangers. Always asked about me and told to say hi from the insiders at MLS who I was friends with.

Hitting the bar against Arsenal from the half way line. Never forget that.

;-)

1990..

I was still 22 years old when that game was played... A 30 inch waist and hair like General Urko from planet of the apes. Just married to Wife number 1 And Gout was still 32 years away.

seems a thousand years ago..

I remember giving Ceefax the thousand yard stare for about 2 hours in furious anger waiting for the confirmation of his exit to Blackburn.

Once it was finally confirmed i thought i'd go for a drive to calm down and I left the room with my head bowed miserably in the salted earth like General Alfred Jodl in abject surrender to Soviet Field Marshals in May 1945.
*
To top it all off , i then discovered my ford capri 3.0 ghia had been nicked, so i couldn't even go for a drive and listen to Luther vandross love songs on me argos tape deck.

I think after the Goddard/ Allen and Sinclair Transfers , i'd rate roy's departure as a proper cuban heel in the bollocks. Along with Sinton, Darren Peacocks and bardsleys just after that.

Great description of what was a huge amout of quality players out the door was the end of our punching out of ou2 weight class..Although Bournemouth make me live in hope

Isn't that Paul Parker making a forward run out of defence? I don't remember him doing that too often. Macca would have been alongside him.

A brilliant team we had then, a few seasons on we finished 5th, top London club!

Oh he did the occasional run in that great team. Players improve their game when around a great team..Parker one of my favourite players back then..prove me wrong but defence of Parker, Maca,Bardsley and Wilson what a defensive four..! I remember parker scoring against Luton storing forward his only goal as I remember

I think we may have been playing three at the back that day Brian.

McDonald, Parker and Maddix were playing so I'd guess PP was sweeper?

The lineup was:

1 Stejskal
2 Bardsley
3 Sansom
4 Parker
5 McDonald
6 Maddix
7 Wilkins
8 Barker
9 Ferdinand
10 Wegerle
11 Sinton
Sub Falco

Forgot about DM underrated showing.my age now

He was brilliant that night. Didn't score, but did set up both goals. He scored in the league win at ours, maybe that's the one you remember?

Sansom was definitely over on the left as Leeds first (Deane?) came from an almighty howler between him and Stejskal.

Kenny Sansom got the 1st.

Andy Sinton got the 2nd in the last minute.

In the league game v Arsenal we also won 2-0. Wilkins and Wegerle with the goals that day.
