Gives us an idea of players who haven't traveled to Derby then, really disappointed Kolli is being frozen out

It's a disgrace that Frey gets selected over Kolli.

The grass is always greener.

There’s only one outcome to this and it’s his departure. He’s a fine talent but it will only end one way .

I like the struggle to find a second academy grad, so they've hedged their bets there

Yep, he'll be off in the summer.

Probably the biggest disappointment this season has been the lack of game time for any of the youngsters (bar Plymouth) this season.

I thought CN was all into developing players and then selling them? Can't really do that if you don't play them or send them out on 2-bit loans. Kolli, Morgan, Tuck, Sutton the list goes on. Poor from the club.

The whole Kolli thing shows a distinct lack of class from both sides by people who should show a bit of maturity with the young player caught in the middle.

It's a strong lineup tonight. Would love to watch the game.

I wonder if the trialist is the same who played on Monday? Seems to be a LB.

They have to be GOOD ENOUGH. If they play and we lose then everyone will rant about results being sacrificed for the ‘project’. As I said before we’re playing youngish players who could be worth something - Burrell, Kone, Esquerdinha and Saito are hardly pensioners….I think we’ve got one of the youngest squads in the league. But it’s also a massive jump from DS to Championship level.

I saw Tuck play for the Premier Cup final and thought he looked really promising. Then I saw him play for Hampton and Richmond and he looked a bit out of his depth tbh. He needs game time against men, as does Sutton and the others. Otherwise they’re just too naive to play in the Championship. Morgan looks more like he’s ready but even he would benefit from a League 1 or 2 loan. Is Kolli willing to go out on loan? If so three months of men’s football would benefit him.

I think the mistake is made when they don’t go out on loan. Think how Joe Walsh would be a better player if he’d played more matches. He’s hardly played over the last couple of years. How can that help his development.

I trust Stephan to make these decisions. He’s got a lot of experience developing young players and most importantly he knows what goes on behind the scenes. We only know he said/she said and whispers from ITKs

Spot on Nix.
Our strongest squad for years and our best start to a season for years: what’s not to like?
Would certainly have liked to see more young players out on loan but I’m sure there’s an element of players not wanting to go out plus other teams not wanting them. As you say Stéphan has a great reputation for bringing on players so I’m more than happy to trust his decisions, especially when he’s getting positive results.

Dead right.

I really like Kolli, he seemed a bright spark in a very dark time when he first came through. I also think a mistake was made in not playing him alongside Kone when Burrell was rested/unavailable.

But with Chair coming back to fitness, Poku getting the same way, and not many other injury problems opportunities for Kolli are going to be limited and a loan I think is the way to go (so long as its to the right club.)

Excellent response, Nix, much more articulately that I could have put it. I think we put out the youngest team in the Championship v Watford and Coventry and we know how that went. 'Developing young talent' is not just about the academy, anybody under the age of 25 should be capable of being coached to improve, although you could argue that Paul Smyth at 28 has definitely improved his end product this season.
But exhibit A for a player who has been improved by coaching is Madsen. He has gone from a liability to one of our most important players - some of that might be with becoming familiar with the Championship, but most of it is down to Stephan and his team
