Huddersfield is great, some of the best pubs and food outside of London.

Yes, I used to have to travel up to Huddersfield for work meetings every so often pre covid. Always enjoyed the overnight stops up there.

Missing a good night out if you’ve not been to Newcastle. Done a few Friday & Saturday nights up there when Saints have played Newcastle or Sunderland. One of go-to bars was Buffalo Joe’s which was a Western theme bar on the far side of the swing bridge, so technically Gateshead I suppose but easy walking distance from the Newcastle nightlife. The cow girl themed female bar staff used to all get up on the bar two or three times an evening a do a dance routine, great atmosphere in there and never a bad night out. Fond memories of some good away trips 🙂 [Post edited 23 Mar 16:22]

That brings back some happy memories - Buffalo Joe’s was a superb venue and one of those places you’d only find in Newcastle / Gateshead at that time - had some legendary sessions in B.Joe’s and yes, those cowgirls were a class apart in their matching cowboy hats and not an awful lot else! 😮 We also used to go into the Baja Beach Club near Buffalo’s on the Gateshead side of the Quayside area. From memory, there also used to be a good bar on a boat moored up near the Swing Bridge. Might have to look at a trip up there again for Sunderland or Boro away next season as I have not done a NE away trip for a few seasons now. Likewise, fond memories of some great nights out up there.

I wouldn't worry about Gloucester. I used to work in the greetings card business and WH Smith used to tell us that year after year their store with the LOWEST sales of Father's Day cards, across the whole country, was always the Gloucester branch, the inference being that so few people in the city knew who their real dad was! Nuff said!

That’s quite amusing, and there’s me thinking it would be Portsmouth with the lowest sales in the country… 😀
