Sheehan - The Only Candidate 08:36 - Apr 11 with 3520 viewsSTID2017

Seems to me Sheehan is doing an excellent job and should be tied to a contract before someone else lures him away
The owners will do this shortly ... won't they ?

For me the only thing on the clubs mind is saving money. We’ve seen that this week.

Can’t see them handing the job to Sheehan until the end of the season, and by that I mean just before the teams come back for pre season. It’s just my thoughts but the standard is being set already.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

What I don't get is he had offers at and around the time things were looking bleak for Williams....he had no means of knowing he would be asked to stepping again or if a new head coach/manager was due especially with the new ownership.
So I'm surprised he didn't take one of those.

For me yes he has done a great job but there are still a few questions marks.
I don't understand selecting Cullen against the team of giants Derby were, bringing in Fulton when we are 3 nil up against a very poor Plymouth...Sheehans predecessor would have been pilloried for doing the same...and not subbing Vip for Cullen who would have converted those chances.

I don't think a manager gets pilloried for winning games. Now if we'd lost those games then maybe. Under Luke Williams I think we'd definitely have lost v Derby. Under Williams we would be in deep trouble but Sheehan has steered us clear and our form under his is edge of the play offs stuff which is why Sheehan gets leeway, because we won.

These question marks, at least we have evidence to ask them, if we give the job to someone from outside we are all in the unknown again.

After the win against Sunderland he gets the job for me.
Wasn't pretty but the job was done the way the job should be done but we will need players to come in or step up next season.

Trying to keep height in the team instead of playing Vipotnik and Fulton at the same time which would leave us with Cullen and Allen either as subs or starting games.
We lost some height when Pearl-Harris got injured as he had started to be used as an effective outlet.

Have to say he’s pretty much won me over this last week. Very hard to make a compelling argument against him at the moment

There is a bit of a bogus argument going around that says - what is the point of Montague and the new recruitment team and the computer analysts and etc if the club is just going to employ "the next man in the queue".

After the Martin and Williams reign fans want to see wins and toughness. Martin and Williams would have come away with nothing d from Leeds and Sunderland and possible big defeats as they lack resilience. Sheehan has brought this to the club .

I suspect his new back up team also deserve credit. This nay be a less polite group and may have added some bark to training and matches.

There is nothing to say against Sheehan, he adapts the tactics match to match. Today we totally nullified Sunderland and things were tweaked during the game. We are very lucky to have him.

Everyone knew exactly what they had to do. They were organised, they were a team.

Excellent result and performance.

Same here.

I think we’ve got to the point where there question has to be why we wouldn’t appoint him.

Another big step towards the permanent role after today's victory.

4 more games and barring a major hiccup then it's looking good for him.

He's doing a good job but we need to still assess him over the next 5 games.

My fear is the club farthing over a permanent appointment after the seasons finish. They need to make their mind up and a manager on a contract as quickly as they can once the season finishes.

3 wins on the bounce without a single goal conceded as well as a very well earned draw away to the league leaders. Why does he still need to be assessed? Unless Klopp or Guardiola fancy a shot at the championship next year I don't see how any other manager we can realistically afford/attract would be any less of a risk than Sheehan who has already proved himself.

Maybe it's just academical, and he doesn't want any contract.negotiations between now and the end of the season to take the focus away from the job in hand. But make no bones about it.... The fans want him here as the main man next season so let's get it done.

Still think the same after today ?

So instead of giving Sheehan or a.n
Other the opportunity to prepare from day 1 of the close season, they would waste a month or so ??
Utter madness on their part if so

If the club's smart and truly wanting to save money, then they'll sign AS to a contract this week and not wait until season's end. Waiting til the end of the season may see that his value has increased significantly and with prospects of other clubs' interest in hiring him. The odds are that Swans will probably be favored in all but 1 of their remaining games based on the current last 5 games played by each of Swans upcoming opponents. @ Millwall is the lone game where the odds will be against the Swans...but I wouldn't bet against Sheehan!

He deserves the job.

Think of giving him the window.
It’s nice to see plan a, b and c football.

We have become so easy to play against since Martin , Duff and Williams.

It’s nice to see a competitive side.

Keeping O’Brien here would be massive as well.
But I think any team coming down with the parachute payment will snap him up.

Let’s give Alan the job full time and back him.

What if he doesn't keep this run going?

We have 3 very tough away games and 2 tough home games where I can't see us getting much at the aways but if we play as well as we have been doing I can see us getting draws at the away games and possible wins at home.

Even though we are 9pts from relegation we aren't mathematically safe, so I expect sheehan and the squad to bust a gut until we are and even when it does happen I think he and they will still give 100% because it's in his DNA.

Luton and Plymouth can only reach 52 and Cardiff can only get 54 if they win 4, and we don't pick up another point.

I'd say we are safe 😉

I’d like to think if we can’t satisfy salary demands that we knock it on the head now NOT take all of the close season negotiating and failing just as the transfer window closes, the Swansea Way!

I hope they take heed of the flaffing around that the club has done over the past years especially at transfer window time and have learnt, but there's no guarantee that they have.

Alan deserves his chance and has clearly earnt that chance, I hope he does.

I'm starting to lean this way also. What I believe Ive seen, is starting squad & tactics (not always pretty) to nullify/control the opponents and allow us to take points...and its been working!
