He retaliated when the Preston player grabbed him. I didn't think it was much but I suppose not worth appealing it when we are safe.
Surprised they haven't docked us points.
So Dembele and Yang it is out wide. Maybe give Sutton and Petrie some minutes.

No Saito, no Smyth tomorrow maybe Chair will get a game or maybe one of the development squad.

Would certainly hope we see a debut for Sutton in some way or another tomorrow.

I'm intrigued, because the referee did see this. They awarded it as a free kick. I thought these retrospective bans were only for things the officials claimed not to see at the time?

Down to the bare bones out wide for the rest of the season then.
If Kolli is fit enough to start maybe use him on one wing, Yang on the other and hopefully Frey in the middle.

The FA have released the following statement today (Sunday):
Paul Smyth has been suspended for three matches following an incident in the EFL Championship match between Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End on Friday, 18 April.

The forward’s behaviour around the 56th minute wasn’t seen by the match officials at the time, but it was caught on camera, and The FA subsequently alleged that it constitutes violent conduct.

Paul Smyth has admitted this charge and accepted the automatic three-match penalty.

They claim it wasn't seen at the time. Same as you. I thought he gave a free kick at the time.

Sounds like they saw the foul but not the subsequent punch from Smyth in the Preston player's stomach. Well apparently, according to a Preston fan. Anyone got a clip of the incident?

At the risk of being cynical, several PL refs have stated that they were told by PGMOL after the fact to change their reports to ‘miss’ incidents that they gave free kicks for.

Most likely the assessor saw it and told the ref post match to ensure it was picked up after the game.

Difficult to say you missed the off the ball incident when you stopped the play, some distance away, to give a free kick for the off the ball incident.

Applying logic to refereeing. It'll never catch on.

Shame it wasn’t on Kesler-Hayden who spent the first half trying to injure Rangers players to mask his chronic lack of ability.

Maybe it'll cheer up the Norwich fans who moaned like mad about their guy getting done for the off the ball elbow at LR earlier this year...

Well yeh I'm not sure I'd be arsed about it enough to take it to The Hague or whatever they did.

Home game is surely time to give Sutton some . minutes? Hour of Yang then 30 of him against tiring defenders?

Shocked by this but I'm not up with all the rules nowadays!!!!

Regardless of all the above, it is really dumb to put yourself in the position of being penalised for completely pointless acts of petulance.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I mean PGMOL have had refs rewrite match reports for high profile games shown live on Sky to say that free kicks they’ve given and we have all seen were missed. They don’t care what we think.

Absolutely. He assaulted Ashby and even the co-commentator/pundit called it out.

So we can rate his technique? Absolutely.

Said at the time it was a shame the ref didn’t book him as he hen there’s no recourse

Clear punch to the ribs but both at it.
Very petty IMHO

However, it’s another plus for Smudge in my book
I love that he’s one for dark arts whilst looking angelic at the same time

Shame he’s out for the season now

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Watching on Sky, Smyth was the player fouled & it looked as if advantage was played, but then a free kick was given to Preston for a reason that was unknown.

Television replays did show that Smyth retaliated & punched the opponent in the stomach & the Preston player was still complaining to the referee about it after the final whistle.

I sent the following Whats App at 16.22 yesterday - "Smyth might be very fortunate not to have been sent off. It looks like he punched his opponent after being pulled".

On top of which, he has admitted his guilt!
