Clearly thinks there is an issue within the club regarding the injuries this year. Nice he spoke about Madsen and how he has found it hard to adjust. Ashby. I know some may disagree with me, but if he was free and wanted to sign I'd have him. I have a suspicion that a deal has already been agreed in principle.
I don't think MC is going anywhere, thank God. Still got the starting lineup wrong today mind you.

We've had injuries, sure, but the players have too often been found wanting, as have, at times, the tactics, organisation and impetus. I think, over the season, the glass is half-filled at best, so it's up to individuals to decide whether it's half-full or half-empty.

Good interview and really liked some of this answers. As you say, he sounds like a manager preparing for next season.
Yes, that was my take-away too. If accurate it's huge. More than anything I think the club currently needs continuity. On the pitch, in the dressing room and in the front office.

I’m sort of wavering (again) on renewing a season ticket after a few years oh hiatus following 33 years of having one.
If there’s a chance of Ashby being here next season then it’s a cross in the “nah, leave it” column.
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I still think Devon White is more likely to be our manager next season than this guy.
I don’t know I can’t see him leaving unless another club comes in for him. And I can’t see us sacking him…but I don’t know anything…just hopeful he stays.

I don't know for sure where I sit opinion wise with our Manager, two more games to go and have we improved on last season? Being brutally honest I'll be glad when the seasons finished, I'm not interested In what Cifuentes say's nor any of the players. We're not any different to this time last season are we? There's no fortress Loftus Road anymore.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
I rate him and respect him both as a manager and as an honourable person. As he alludes to in the interview, the squad has been massively affected by injuries this season. I hope that he stays because we need some level of consistency and continuity - I genuinely feel that if he had a squad of fit players we would have been 3/4 places further up the table which would definitely demonstrate improvement. As mentioned, I think the only way he will not be on board next season is if someone comes in with an offer. Sadly, there will be a number of championship teams with bigger budgets than our selves short of a manager come mid May. Let's hope he stays....

All of this.
Just take DM. No Colback for most of the season so we start with Varane and Field. Varane takes a while to adjust to the Championship which impacts early results. Field and Varane start playing well but no cover if either one is exhausted/injured/suspended then Varane and Field both at various times gets injured so we have to fudge with a CM or Edwards at various times. Same with strikers, attacking midfielders and CDs.
It's been like a leaky boat where you plug one hole and three more spring open. And people are asking why he isn't trimming the sails or focussing on the rudder.
I honestly think he's performed more of a miracle than last season getting us to mid-table. I can't ever remember so many injuries across so many positions. We literally had no CDs on the bench and our back up RB was playing LB. Neither of our two fit strikers could play 90 minutes. Chair can only come on for 10 minutes, Smyth is suspended and Saito injured.

Interested to learn why you think this Clive. It doesn't sound like he is off anywhere but what do I know?
As for Devon, you think the lure of lower half Championship football would coax him away from being a Nottingham based electrician? :) Weirder things have happened here...
Sounds to me like whether or not he's around next season will be at largely determined by these upcoming conversations with Nourry, on recruitment, the ridiculous physio situation, and whatever else.
If he then decides he's looking at only again surviving next season, rather than finding this 'edge' he talks about, I think he'll go. Plenty to sort out in the coming weeks.

Could be the spark we need!
Agree with 100 and Nix. There's a sense of 'mend and make-do' about QPR in the 2020s, and it certainly feels from afar, that this isn't changing anytime soon, unless the clutch of young ones all come good soon.
And that's your QPR folks: develop a formula to hang in there until it comes good by luck and/or judgement. Given his predecessors, it is hard to look beyond Marti with much hope of QPR getting someone better.

Marti’s overall performance this season has been pretty good, considering squad, budget and ridiculous injury list. I worry if he does go, we will be in big trouble next season. I don’t think many Managers would have kept us up with what must be the weakest striker options in the league.

There hasn't been fortress LR for ….oh I don’t know ….over 30 years.
Not sure we can pin that fully on anybody at the club right now . And with 12 first teamers unavailable to start games , it’s not likely to be either .

Q: ‘Do you know who will be here next season?’
A: ‘No, I’ll have to sit down with Christian’
Mental this hasn’t happened seeing as we’ve been safe arguably for quite some time now but definitely for a week.
Also puts to bed the idea that Marti is in charge of who is in the squad.
[Post edited 22 Apr 8:11]
I wouldn't think that's a bad thing though at all. What's the point in having that discussion when Marti should be focusing on the last few matches. The position in the table is important for him professionally and for the club financially.
The words arguably and quite some time are open to interpretation. I would say not until the Oxford match and still then not mathmatically.
I don't think Marti decides who's in the squad which I think's been argued on here is a good thing as clubs regularly change manager and we can't afford squad churn for every managerial change. The DoF also has a different focus of bringing on youth rather than bringing in experienced players for longer term club development. I think even Nourry's fiercest critic would say we've been doing that more.
Also we can't really be sure who's going/staying yet.
Have discussions when more time and a clearer picture emerges. What should be happening now though is Nourry etc. should be identifying potential incoming players etc.

Conversely, how do you focus on the last few matches when you don’t know who’s mind is elsewhere because they don’t know if they are looking for a club or are wondering where their kids will be at school.
While finishing 12th instead of 20th feels good, it’s irrelevant for next season isn’t it?
The picture is clear, we’ll be starting with the same oppontunities as everyone else next season. You can’t run a football club with only the next two matches in mind IMO.

But it's not completely irrelevant as it makes a financial difference for FFP which could mean us affording a player's wages or not. Also Marti's stats stay with him his entire professional career so he will be mindful of that.
It's irrelevant for fans possibly but not for professionals in the game. Nourry too will know that's one of the metrics he'll be judged on.
I don't really follow your first paragraph. Just because some players might be preoccupied then the manager should just not bother?

So let’s take the striker as an hypothetical example position. Imagine all players fit and available.
Scenario One:
Marti knows:
1) Frey getting a year extension. 2) Kolli looking for a league one loan
He plays Frey right?
Scenario Two
1) Frey being released 2) Kolli starting next season and needs minutes
He plays Kolli
But all that aside, it’s should be standard practice to plan around the knowns. I assume all of QPR’s variables are known or mostly known.
- We know what divison we’ll be in - We know what our FFP forecast is - We know (or should know) the future of most of our transfer targets are in and their contact situation is.
When West Brom were that successful YoYo club I remember a interview where someone like Dan Ashworth was saying that they have three potential backups for every manager and player and everyone spent 50% of their thoughts on next season in addition to the day to day.
It paid off for them until they abandoned those principles.
I may have it wrong and all this is planned out. I just think Marti should know too.

Right but we just have a difference in philosophy.
I want to see us win as many as possible and am not as focussed on next season as you are until this one ends. I think Marti has a tough enough time trying to cobble 11 players who can start without worrying about giving extra minutes when it may be moot anyway as any of those players could leave in close season.
We don't know who's been identified for obvious commercial reasons but we've moved fairly early in the last two windows so I'm guessing we do this too. That doesn't mean Marti needs to be involved yet. Let him focus on the training ground.
