Surely this must be good news in respect of redeveloping Lotus Road or sourcing a new ground

You'd hope so. Nonetheless, it's another nice little title to add to his CV.

Surely there would be a conflict of interest if or when that board discussed the club and he would not be able to participate

They will meet quarterly so don't expect anything to happen quickly but I hope it's some kind of positive step.
I think someone said on here recently that Loftus Road is the only ground in the four Leagues that has not had any major upgrade (i.e. new stand(s)) or been replaced completely.

F*ck me! 18 months ago he'd never had a job, now he's the CEO of a £100m business, Director of Football at a Championship club and has been co-opted onto a political advisory body. Is there nothing this wunderkind can't do?

It does suggest that the club still have ambitions to improve the ground and hopefully make the club more self sustaining.

And it suggests a better, collaborative approach to achieving that than our attitude and approach to the council previously.

Can only be good news, I'd have thought.

We've tried to outsmart and strongarm them in the past.

And, in the sloth like ways council decision making works, this will have been in the offing for a while..

Below were some of Ruben's comments on the council in 2021. Starting to repair this relationship and work closer with the council can only be a positive step

"We might need to look elsewhere to find other spaces which are more viable - and that's what we are looking at right now," said Gnanalingam.

"It's not easy to deal with this borough.

"I think in this borough it's just way too hard to convince the people involved that this is something they want to do, even though we think we can create a lot more jobs and income for the borough."

In response, Hammersmith & Fulham Council said QPR had not been in touch with "any plans of substance" for more than two years, adding that they are "willing to bend over backwards" to help the Championship club.

Without opening up yet another thread.... how?? I can't see us getting 25k on our footprint and with modern regulations, though it would be nice if they could somehow manage it!
Look at the footprint for the Madejski Stadium (24k) for comparison.

Please can anyone replying avoid the following;

- dig down
- build over the South Africa Road itself
- buy the school
- buy all the houses in Ellerslie Road and/or Loftus Road

How about we halve the size of the pitch and make all home matches 5X5?

Bhatia Stand going.

New stand would need to accommodate 7,000 more seats than it already does so that would need to be big and there are 'rights of light' to take into account for the White City flats. Plus, the ground would end up looking like a giant hole-puncher!

Don't get me wrong, that sounds like the main plausible option. Let's hope they can figure a way.

The other three stands would need major revamp too, maybe knock each one down one at a time and rebuild like-for-like in terms of actual size but not sure if new regulations then get triggered reducing the seating capacity of each stand.

Maybe this was the tactic all along? Our policy of signing 5ft technical 'ballers' make a lot more sense

So we're good to mention bleachers on the SB stand roof?

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
