Nourry on new H&F board on 15:16 - May 9 by Nov77 | Exactly. Football is Darwinian, more so now than ever. You have to adapt to change, we’ve done nothing except stagnate while other clubs have evolved. It’s utterly shameful how we’ve just stood back and watched while other clubs have outgrown and overtaken us. |
Yeh and there have been huge developments all around us that we could easily have been part of - everything to the east of the Central Line at White City has been up for grabs for years and is now a shopping mall, flats etc. Could easily have been part of that. The TV Centre, the BBC at White City. Our attitude towards the council for the last decade seems to have been "we're the local football club don't you know, you owe us something" and trying to blag things like the LCS, Car Giant etc for free, getting a lot of backs up, and then slating the council in meetings, interviews etc for not playing ball. You don't get anywhere like that. If this is a sign of a more conciliatory, joint approach to the problem then it's very welcome.
Nourry on new H&F board on 15:24 - May 9 with 2640 views | Beckenhamhoop | I wonder what the reaction on here would be if in a year or so’s time Nourry was regarded in the football world as an obvious rising star, had clearly demonstrated that he was doing an outstanding job at QPR and got poached by a Premier League team. Just saying 😉

Or in 18 months time , the site is sold for housing and the club is being moved to Slough . Hence the long line of neardowells who have flitted in and out for years . Was this always the prime goal ?? Is that pessimistic enough ? 🤣 On a more serious note , politics seems perfect for the spin meister

Nourry on new H&F board on 14:40 - May 9 by KensalT | It's a high level board. I don't think they'll be taking any nonsense from young Christian. I'm not sure why QPR are getting involved with this and it would be really nice if they could tell us! But I agree that it sounds like a positive move. |
Surely no one can look at this negatively, the worst that can happen is we stay as we are. Be good if we won next week and 1st meeting after

"Our attitude towards the council for the last decade seems to have been "we're the local football club don't you know, you owe us something" " Exactly. That high-handed approach was never going to work in our corner of London. Think I'm right in saying H&F is one of the smaller local authorities in England and the only one with three football clubs within its borders. Expecting special treatment as the local football club when there are two more within walking distance was never going to work for us. But looking at this Upstream London website and where all the investment is coming from, I wonder if we ever really stood a chance of getting a foothold in all the development projects going on around White City. https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/upstream-london "Eighty-five per cent of all investment is in the 'STEM3' fields of science, technology, engineering, maths, medicine and media." probably not, but you stand a better chance working with the council than just standing there saying "GIMME" and making idle threats about moving to Greenford golf course or whatever it is this week. Maybe nothing in this today, but it looks like positive news to me.

Means we're doing good then. I'd be ok with that. As is often said, football is a 'results business' and that shouldn't just apply to players & managers. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agree with you. But I would like to know more about why we're getting involved, what we expect to contribute, and what we hope to get out of it. Some sort of statement from the club or CN would be helpful. I'm not holding my breath!

Spent most of my corporate career in global real estate investment and planning. This is a serious step by the Board and I suspect we have a seat at the table. That’s a first and most important step in the RE game. Wouldn’t surprise me if the LCS is back on the agenda. If I recall there was a recent sports investment of £200K. That wouldn’t have touched the surface on the infrastructure improvements needed at that facility. We now have HS2 terminating in London so OAC now becomes a very attractive investment and development opportunity. The opportunity is now there if the above is a realistic possibility-which I think it is. Will be interesting to see if the LCS is quickly back on the agenda when Nourry is present at one of these meetings - if they share the minutes. I have no doubt the Board have probably presented some serious financial credentials to get a seat.

Yeh decades of home and away QPR support but now people want them to lose because they have concerns about a member of staff - sounds legit.
Nourry on new H&F board on 17:35 - May 9 with 2064 views | baz_qpr | I'm sure I heard White City was being looked as a new development scheme. The other thing to consider is that post pandemic the city is awash with empty office space as working patterns changed so I would expect over time older disused office space is going to need to be replaced and we might get lucky and find a large enough site
Nourry on new H&F board on 17:36 - May 9 with 2055 views | Third_Division_South | I have no inside knowledge and this is purely theoretical and people with greater understanding of these things are welcome to shoot me down. But, is it possible that H@F are considering redeveloping the White City flats? They’re pretty old now and must be expensive to maintain so would it make sense to get a developer in to demolish and rebuild them? If that were the case SA road could be moved giving us more space and resolving any light issues.

Well that seemed to be the insinuation to me, happy to be corrected if you want to elaborate. If Nourry is a great success next year and gets another job then that will be good for us because it’ll mean we’ve been winning. And after 10 years in the bottom half of this division that will be wonderful and people will be happy because God knows we need some winning in the QPR bit of our lives.

Firstly I wasn’t insinuating anything. I was responding to Dave B’s use of the word ‘all’. Christian Nourry is clearly a divisive figure. Even on matters that he’s been responsible for that should be considered a positive for the club people seem to want to root out or invent a negative. This thread is one of several examples of that. Of course we’d all be happy to see the club and team do well; that’s a given. But there does seem to be a touch of Nourry Derangement Syndrome which would mean some wouldn’t be happy to give him any or little credit if my hypothetical situation came to pass. I could rephrase it and say most people would be happy if we do well but you'll always get a few miserable sods, would that work? I couldn't stand Paladini or Flavio but when we went up in 2011 we all seemed happy and he was the last thing on my mind that season Criticism of Nourry is no different to criticism of a player. If I say Madsen was crap against Burnley that dosn't mean he wasn't good against Sunderland. Both statements can be true at the same time Football is far from back and white, for me Nourry has got a few things wrong, I don't like the communication style and the dripping of information we are seeing again, it feels very controlling, I didn't like a lot of our recruitment and I don't like what we've done with the manager and the Ben Williams situation is a joke plus i don't think any one person should have this much power and control at a football club but I do like what he's done with the focus on younger players in the development squad simialr to what Les did with Eze, Chair, Manning etc but it's good to see and if he's getting in bed with the council to help us improve the stadium then thats all good as well. I don't see Nourry as a Bond Villian but when he or anyone at the club does things that I don't think benefit QPR I don't see an issue with him getting criticism for that even if in years to come that criticism is proved to be wrong and he knew what he was doing all along The day should never come when we stop questioning people at the top of the club from Owners to CEO to manager [Post edited 9 May 19:25]

Well I hope it does, and I hope your theory is proven wrong, because to be unhappy with QPR doing well because you don't like the CEO would be proper mental. I hated the manager and most of the players in 2014. You talk to anybody that was with me at Wembley, I was deliriously happy. I hated Flavio, Bernie, Gianni and Ali Russell, 2010/11 was my favourite ever QPR season. These people come and go. The club sustains. If the club's doing well, that's all that matters. Your "Nourry derangement syndrome" is playing out the opposite way around on Twitter, by the way, where the guy can do no wrong. It's just different demographics, thinking differently, as happens in politics and everything else. What our club doesn't need, and what happened under Paladini, is the support to divide. We're a small club, too small for that. It's not "Cifuentes FC" or "The Nourry Haters". We are QPR. Asking legitimate questions of the people running it is not taking sides, derangement, personal, or anything else.
