Surely this must be good news in respect of redeveloping Lotus Road or sourcing a new ground

Magnificent insight.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I just didn’t think stuff like that went on.

And that’s very naive and strikes to the heart of Clive’s point that age or experience plays a big part of how you think as you get older .

The first time I met Clive was on an Open All R’s podcast many moons ago . I remember Peter Hucker was on the phone during it . I only went on as they want different people like myself (a musician, at the time ) with maybe a different view.

But I was not naive in years as I think I’m a fair bit older than Clive but I was naive in experience and knowledge . I was aware to a point of the Paladini / Briatore nonsense but didn’t know the half of it. I spent a lot of that podcast backing Tony Fernandes as I liked him. I thought he was a good guy with good intentions and couldn’t see past that . I didn’t want to see past that if I’m being honest .
Clive spent the pod raising his eyebrows and questioning what I was saying . Not in an aggressive way , but just “saying I wouldn’t be so sure “ etc.
Moving on people like Finney and moreso people like Steve Sayce would always baulk at why I was arguing about TF.
It took a while but in the end I had to take on board that these people had been there and seen it before and had to have a point . I’m a stubborn git but i know when i’m just being stubborn for stubborn sake .
In the end I read and i learned and i made my own mind up through knowledge and wanting to listen to people who inevitably knew more than me on subjects .

This message board and site actually allow that . We might not agree but we can read and take in different points of view where I’m not sure places like Twitter allow that without being told you’re a …whatever .
I do see some that old stubbornness in some , where they are entrenched without wanting to hear another view, but that’s up those and their right to do so .
I just think that’s the main difference in why this an older demographics and all power to it.
I left Twitter 6 years ago and never ever looked back .

I do actually think Tony Fernandes was a good guy with good intentions btw. Just no idea how to accomplish it, and v easily taken advantage of by a shtty sport full of shtty people.

Yeah I can’t remember the details but yes the conversation wasn’t all that different to now , good people, but tend to fall for the ‘gift of the gab’ every time which has been spelled out many times before .
Yes to make clear , you weren’t saying he was the devil , just maybe naive, starstruck and carefree with the finances, which is a pretty fair assessment with the benefit of hindsight .
I look back and strangely agree with all of that , so I do wonder why I was so entrenched that I didn’t want to listen to criticism of him at that time .
It wasn’t even so much of him , just people worried about the club at that time and was it in competent hands ? And they were right .
I do see that similar entrenchment so often now too .

As for the OP , if CN can build a dialogue and a trust with H & F then that’s a promising start and long overdue .
But with Hoos still Chairman and much more day to day than he was 6-9 months ago , I do wonder if that might be a sticking point going forward .

I would say our stadium redevelopment or new stadium is the most important thing for this club over the next 5 years. If we fail to do anything then we will continue to fall further and further behind Brentford and Fulham. I happened to be going past Fulham’s ground this afternoon after their game. All their fans were on the riverfront there. They had music. They had the 5.30 game on. The fans were buying beer after beer (and Pimms). 99% of our fans just watch the game and go. There is no attempt to keep us in the ground and spend money. Fulham and Brentford have clearly tapped into how maximise revenue with their new ground / redevelopments. My experience of going to Loftus Rd has literally not changed in over 40 years. I go to the same seat through the same turnstile. My seats are like sitting on Ryan Air for 90 mins. I go for a pi55 and the bogs are still the same. I love it but my God we have to move with the times
If we want to attract floating fans.
The new training ground was very much Hoos’s project and he has delivered on it. Nourry’s legacy needs to be sorting out our stadium. The natural point after that will be promotion to the Premier League. Loftus Rd is just past is sadly. It has given me and my family so many memories but we have to move on. Its current state is not fit for purpose. If it means we have to ground share at Fulham / Brentford / AFC Wimbledon for 2 or 3 years then so be it.

We must have walked past each other yesterday mate, I walked down the South Side of the Thames through Barnes to Putney about 5-6ish. And looked across there, at a ground I remember being basically derelict and playing pre-season friendlies there, now with 9 stories of high end hospitality and hundreds of people enjoying £8 post match beers in the sun on the side of the river, thinking… sht, did we miss the boat or what.

chalk and cheese . Fulham are situated on the riverbank where the hoi poloi generally tend to gather.
We’ve got Batman close. Love to see us close the gap but we’re worlds apart now.

Whilst I agree that the overall matchday experience needs significant improvement, it's unrealistic to expect QPR to match the experience of being on the riverside in either Fulham or Kew without a stadium move. It still grinds my gears that QPR didn't piggyback the Westfield development.

Grinds my gears we didnt take over the Dairy, or BBC site /White City Stadium site.

My dad saw rangers play at White City and although it was getting a bit rough round the edges, he saw in his minds eye the benefit of moving into it, and gently re-building it to the then modern standards, slowly replacing stands etc.

same , esp the diary crest site, never has a piece of land been more perfect for a football ground , access you name it all ready there, actully asked lee hoos to his face one sat before a game years back , his answer we didnt even look at it . which in the grand scheme of things is utter madness , or maybe they just thought they would pick up a piece of land for notbing and do it on the cheap . honesrtly think we would have had a new ground by now if they had spent the cash , on the land 108 million quid which is a chunk of cash but for the area with what its got on is door step , westfields , numerous train links it couldnt have been a sweeter deal .

Apparently there is an river that flows under SA Rd.

If we dig down, then we are only a cottage away.😁

Maybe one day the full Tommy Nintendo story will be told without fear of litigation from one of the offenders. It's a dirty ugly story which caused its main target to suffer depression and paranoia for a long time.
It's not my story to tell but it makes me angry thinking about it.

The grass is always greener.

Just noticed this and wondered if this is another indication of closer ties between the borough and club - QPR’s Loftus Road plays host to Mayor’s Cup football finals for local boys: https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/news/2025/05/qprs-loftus-road-plays-host-mayors-cup-foot

Lots of options but probably all blocked because a footie stadium doesn't make as much money for developers as residential & commercial property that will all be high rise.

thing is the diary crest site would have ticked all the boxes and more , similar in the way arsenal have done it with the emeriates , buy the full site , plant a nice stadium by the railway bridge end , cover the roof of white city for extra access , then build flats etc on the remaining bit , even allowing for the cost of the land 108 million if would have off set a fair chunk of a new stadium in not a long period of time . but hey lets got for car giants land which was a ball ache to get to , the main reason of building there wont be open for 8 or so years and it was cheap as chips , oh also add in the various local planning issues we would need to hurdle to build it anyway .

as stupid things go in rangers history this ranks up as the biggest
