The thing I would point out about the better keepers - when was the last time we won something choosing the best keeper?
World cup win - Buttler (very average keeper) T20 win - ditto 2010 ashes away - Prior (sure there were better glovemen around) 2005 ashes home - Jones (poor keeper, but better bat than Read and Foster)
2010/11 ashes often seems to be forgotten. We absolutely murdered them. Won 3 games by an innings and declared at 517/1 in the first drawn game. By the final test in Sydney we were basically toying with them.
Other series down here since I arrived have been far more forgettable although Aus despite their constant boasts of superiority haven't won in England since 2001.

To be fair this is a bit lions versus minnows. And Srokes said he would have bowled first too. Zimbabwe have only 1 or 2 truley international class players and the worst Curran brother. So it didnt reallg make much difference to tbe result

24 years and counting.
It's now the sort of drought we suffered after winning in 1986/87.

Ha - imagine being the "worst Curran brother" - which means you are a worse international cricketer than Tom, oh dear. To think that TC is probably minted after his IPL stuff - there must be so many skint cricketers from the 80s and 90s who are absolutely gutted.

Back in the mid to late 1980s, I was teacher i/c of my school's first XI cricket team. The Head of PE always told me that when playing the independent schools, we were to put the opposition in to bat otherwise the game would be over in about an hour and a half. We were a state school and often played against some top independent schools in the Surrey area. An example was when we played Caterham School at their place and they happened to have a certain Ally Brown in their side. They got 300-1 in no time at all and we were skittled out for 53. It was a long day.

Read quite a decent book- Crickonomics (from one of the authors of Freakonomics and Soccernomics for anyone into those) which had a chapter on posh schools producing batsmen mainly while poor schools/inner cities produced bowlers. Cricket in its infancy as a gentleman’s game regarded bowling and fielding as grunt work and they’d get the local oiks and staff in to do that. Public schools would mostly have great batting pitches so students gravitated towards batting while learning the game in the street or a crap state school pitch if you were lucky was more conducive to bowling.
More detailed than that and every chapter is on a different interesting topic but worth a read for any cricket fans.

Thank you for the recommendation. Funny you should cite the batting versus the bowling history because the Medical school cricket team I played for over 25 years had a preponderance of batters whilst the majority of the bowlers were ringers like me. Furthermore, they remain very talented golfers whereas I prefer to take the scenic route whilst on the course.
Anderson Silva was a different level in MMA back during his title run. He was unbelievable. Like he was fighting in the Matrix or some shit.
But then he ran into Chris Weidman and he took him very lightly. Thing is, Chris was like 10-0 at the time and a beast. But Silva pissed about, clowned him and then acted like he'd be hurt while joking around. And then Chris caught him with a left hook, right on the chin.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

I see Napoli won Serie A last night spearheaded by Scott mcTominay . 12 goals and player of the season. A snip at 25 million . In a season where Manure have stunk the place out , this must rank as the dumbest decision ever made . It’s been the highlight of the sporting season watching this lot fail . Hilarious.

To return to the OP, Middlesex won the toss and put Glamorgan in to bat. 3 wickets in first session, then 4 and 5 both scored 100s. Game ended on Day 3 with Glamorgan winning by 10 wickets.

At least digswell, you proved you are not a glory supporter
There is really no reason to support QPR that can be explained in any reasonable logical way !!!
Hmmm well I supported Liverpool as a kid but when I got to secondary school a mate there was a QPR season ticket holder, went to a few games with him and it was a lot more fun watching matches live than on telly. And QPR was more or less my local team so I decided to become an R.
Mark Wood did an interview with Athers and Nass recently where he pointed out he hates golf and all this stuff is a total myth, in my view perpetrated by bitter ex-players like Pietersen who can't accept that these days players get treated like grown-ups.
And I see Foakes makes a ton on an absolute road and all the fawners about his oh-so-pretty glovework are wondering why he isn't in the team. Because he didn't make enough runs for England when it mattered, that's why.
One day English cricket fans will get over this obsession with cultured-looking wicket keepers. Even in the women's team, Amy Jones can't buy a run whenever it matters but because she has soft hands she has to be in the team for 20 years.
I'd buy that more if England hadn't essentially wasted a home Ashes to have Bairstow behind the stumps so as not to effect his feelings, where the only thing large enough for him to catch was a Just Stop Oil protester.
I guess he made 100 in a draw though
