Southern team coming up to the Championship, then….. 22:56 - May 14 with 1797 viewsPatfromPoole

Orient, Charlton or Wycombe.

Hopefully Orient.

Three interesting teams, whoever comes up. Seems like a long time since we last played Charlton. Would be a good London away day where we would get 3000 tickets. Leyton Orient I assume wouldn't give so many tickets to away fans being that their stadium only holds 10 000. Wycombe would be another interesting ground to visit, but again they have a small stadium, restricting how many fans could visit. If Charlton win tomorrow, I fancy them to go up. But we shall see!

Hope it's Charlton.

Remember going there for a boxing day game, hunting for a perking space only for game to be called off about an hour before K,O.

Can think of a certain manager who would take that match particularly competitively…..

Charlton obviously get 3000 ( unless they change and only start to give 2000)

Wycombe give 1800 behind the goal

Orient give around 1100 gone are the days they used to give away teams the whole side stand.

With Wrexham only giving 1000 and possibly Orient I can a few fans being disappointed when they can’t get tickets for them 2 .

Not sure what Oxford give away fans but I think it’s in the region of 1800.

Orient or Charlton - either away i’d be delighted with. Both for the following we could amass there.

We’ve only ever played Wycombe twice, and that was in League One.

Gutted Stockport got knocked out as that only leaves Wrexham as a new ground for me next season.

I am sadly old enough to remember being at the League Cup quarter-final at Stockport in 97 under Souness.

Scrambled a 2-2 draw with a late Ostenstad scuffler leading to wild celebrations on the terrace behind the goal.

We were destined for Wembley, as we couldn't conceivably fail to beat them at home in the replay.....

Def Orient, but I have connections with the club inc a cousin who played for them years ago. Also proper fans who don't follow the glory hunters (?) to West Ham

Also couple of times we've gained promotion there back in the 60s as well, I think, back in 2010 ish? So good omen

For play off Orient gave Stockport 1,250

When QPR played at Oxford they received 1,500 tickets

Charlton received 1,284 tickets for their away game at Wrexham

Charlton normally give 3,000 away tickets, but could reduce that to 2,000 if they wished to do so.

Also late April in the 1977/78 promotion season, we got a 1-1 draw from an evening game with a goal from Tony Funnell. If they get up and when the fixtures are released we play them away in late April it would indeed be a potential lucky omen.

If memory serves we played Luton on the Saturday and Orient the following Wednesday.

Beat Luton 2-1 with a David Peach penalty being the winner after Alan Ball “ bought” a penalty late on.

At Brisbane Road a retaining wall collapsed in the stand where most of our fans were although I don’t recall reports of any injuries.

Tony Funnell’s career nose dived after we were promoted to the then top division and he ended up playing for Poole Town.

Mick Pickering played every game in the promotion season at centre half but never played a game in the top flight afterwards.

I remember going to Charlton for an evening game 14/15 years ago. The Saints fans in that shed behind the goal were so loud, i thought the roof was going to collapse.

I was there for that game, one mayor disappointment. Managed by David Jones at the time and Paul Jones in goal. They also had Alun Armstrong up front. I had just discovered teamtalk and they constantly linked him with us

Yes it was Luton on Saturday then Orient the following Tuesday

We took 10k up to Luton out of 14,302, as many Luton fans went to watch local teams in FA Vase final that day

https://www.11v11.com/matches/luton-town-v-southampton-22-april-1978-118418/

Then on following Tuesday took at least 12k up to Orient.

A few weeks earlier we had taken 8k up to Fulham for a Friday night game

Happy days

Well as it stands, Nathan Jones is taking Charlton to Wembley. 30 000 Charlton fans singing Nathan Jones name.

What a bellend Nathan Jones is. See’s the camera’s on him, so falls to his knees pointing to the sky and praying whilst the game’s still going on.

Good to see Thierry Small and Kayne Ramsey in the Charlton team.

Both looked good enough for the Championship and Small particulary was impressive.
Powerful , quick and beating his man . Similar to Antonio.

Didn't we pay Everton 5m for him?
Why couldn't we have kept him?

Because we don’t keep young talent we sell it

Im not not sure we made anything on these two?

As far as im aware we released both of them.
Ramsey was from our academy but i reckon we lost 5m on Small who will likely be worth double or treble that amount if he keeps progressing.

Its a strange one that we identfy talents likes Lavia, Livramento and Fernandes and make a decent profit on them which whether we like it or not is just the way it is for 95% of clubs.

Its players like Small and to an even bigger extent Charlie Alceraz who we bring in but dont manage them properly and we could have had two diamonds in our squad now worth at least double or treble what we paid for them.

Yet somewhow we're seen as a club that nurtures young talent to sell on for a profit.

Could not have described it better myself.

Thinks it’s all about him.

Just shake the opposing manager’s hand FFS.

Bell-end.
